We meet at 9am at the gîte to settle in and get to know our guide and the other participants. Once we've familiarised ourselves with the equipment, we'll begin our adventure with a climb to the Pas du Follet via the picturesque Vallon d'Âne. This first day is a perfect warm-up, with its gentle slopes and panoramic views of the surrounding ridges.

The Vallon Froid loop allows us to discover another facet of this wild region, ideal for experiencing the immensity of the Alps. Around 900 metres of ascent await us before we return to our starting point. We return to our gîte at the end of the day, where a warm welcome and a good meal await us.

After a good night's sleep in the gîte, we start our day with a loop around La Rama, on its north-east side. The climb is more technical and demanding, with a positive difference in altitude of 1,000 metres. The path climbs steadily to the summit at 2379 metres. From here, you can admire the Dévoluy range and its impressive limestone cliffs.

After a short break to admire the view and recharge our batteries, we begin the descent on skis. We finish the itinerary by returning to our friendly gîte, where a good meal awaits us to recover from this beautiful day.

After a good breakfast at the gîte, we have two options, depending on the energy and motivation of the group. For the more energetic, we'll head for the Tête de l'Aupet, a 1400-metre ascent through the magnificent valleys of Truchières and Narrites. This trail is renowned for its varied scenery, with a gradual climb that becomes more technical as you approach the crests.

For those who prefer a slightly more accessible option, we opt for the Tête d'Oriol, with its 1,100-metre ascent and return. Although this climb is a little less demanding, it remains a real challenge and rewards every effort with spectacular views. Once back down, we'll return to the comfort of the gîte for an invigorating meal, the perfect way to round off this adventurous day.

DAY 4 / 5
Night

Activity time

Today, we're heading for the impressive Pic de Bure, one of the emblematic peaks of the Dévoluy Massif, culminating at 2709 metres. We'll begin our ascent via the Combe de Corne, a wild and unspoilt route, often sheltered from the crowds, which immediately immerses us in unspoilt and authentic nature. We'll then continue into the Combe Ratin, with a 1,300-metre climb that will require a sustained effort.

Once we reach the summit of the Pic de Bure, we'll be greeted by a breathtaking panorama, offering a 360-degree view of the entire Dévoluy range, with the Grand Ferrand and the Obiou in the background. The descent then offers us some beautiful powder curves, before moving on to some more technical sections, where the quality of the alpine snow makes for a unique experience. We finally return to our gîte in the late afternoon.

DAY 5 / 5
Activity time
4h
D+
1000m

On this final day, we'll be tackling the summit of Raz de Bec, with a sustained ascent of 1,000 metres. This loop will take us through a variety of landscapes, starting with dense forests and then progressively sparser vegetation as we gain altitude. After a few hours of effort, we'll reach the summit, where we'll be rewarded with a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys and mountains.

The descent is via the Ravin de Loupon, a narrower, more technical route with steep slopes and tight bends. We finish this expedition by returning to our gîte. The legs will be tired from these days of intense effort, but the mind will be marked by the wild beauty of the mountains and the satisfaction of having taken up this challenge to the end.

Passionate about the mountains, I discovered climbing in the Bouches-du-Rhône before diving into ski touring in the Ecrins. Since then, I've explored various mountain ranges, from Mont Blanc to Dévoluy, in search of pleasure and sharing. For me, the mountains are all about human adventure and working together on projects.

Frequently asked questions

What equipment do we need?

Once your registration has been confirmed, we'll send you a personalised roadbook for your trip containing all the practical information you need, including a list of equipment you'll need to take.

How comfortable are the rooms?

The gîte has a certain level of comfort: you will sleep in a single bed in a room shared with the other participants. Blankets are provided, but it is advisable to bring a sleeping bag for reasons of hygiene. There will be heating and showers.

How big is the group?

For this expedition, we prefer a group of no more than 6 people so that your guides have time to concentrate on each of you.

What do I do if I need to hire ski touring equipment?

If you don't have your own ski touring equipment (touring skis, skins, knives, poles), we can hire it for you: all you have to do is pick it up from the local shop with your guide on the first day of the expedition.

What are the travel arrangements for the expedition?

To make travel easier, we recommend that at least one participant comes by car. This will simplify travel between the various expedition sites. The cost of fuel and tolls will be shared between participants to reduce costs. We encourage car-sharing, not only to reduce the ecological footprint of the trip, but also to enhance the conviviality right from the start. If several participants wish to share a car, we can help you organise the journeys in advance of the expedition.

Will I have to carry a rucksack on the various hikes?

No, as this is a star trek, we'll be returning to our gîte each evening. You'll be able to leave your things there and take only a light bag for the day's hikes.

⛈ What happens if the metreo is wrong?

If the weather is bad but does not represent a danger to participants during the expedition, the activity will continue. If the weather becomes dangerous, the activity will be cancelled and replaced by an alternative offered by our professional guides.

What is included in the price of a DiscoveRent shipment?

At Wildhartt, we attach particular importance to price transparency for our shipments. Our approach is based on a clear breakdown of costs, aimed at providing a better understanding of the elements included in the total amount. Here's how we allocate the percentages:

  • 30% for our guides: We believe that our experienced guides play a crucial role in the success of each activity. That's why we make sure we allocate a significant proportion to pay for their expertise and supervision.
  • 35% for accommodation and food: We consider comfortable accommodation and quality food to be essential elements of an enriching experience.
  • 10% for equipment and transport: The safety and comfort of our participants is paramount. With this part of the total amount, we can guarantee that the equipment required is in excellent condition and adequate for each activity. Transport costs also come into play when they are essential during an expedition.
  • 25% for expedition participation and running costs: These costs cover the logistical, administrative and organisational aspects of the expedition, as well as the overall management of the experience, from start to finish.

Our aim is to provide you with a trustworthy, high-quality experience, while being transparent about how the final cost of your shipment is shared. If you have any further questions about our prices, please contact us here.
