DAY 1 / 3
Accommodation
Mountain hut
D+
1500m
Distance
9km

We set off from Le Cugnon (1180 m), in the heart of Les Contamines-Montjoie, to begin a sustained ascent of 1500 metres, which will take around 5 hours. The first part passes through a beautiful forest, where the light filters through the branches, providing a cool, soothing backdrop to the Tré la Tête Mountain hut, where we take a well-deserved break.

From here, the path climbs more steeply over more technical terrain, alternating between valleys and alpine clearings, requiring concentration and a measured pace. We adapt our pace to the group in this more mineral atmosphere, before setting up camp at altitude.

The evening is spent in a quiet Mountain hut, facing the peaks, to prepare our bodies and minds for the following day.

DAY 2 / 3
Accommodation
Mountain hut
D+
1200m
Distance
10km

We set off from the Mountain hut at dawn, around 5am, to take advantage of the cool, stable conditions. The route begins with an ascent of the Tré la Tête glacier, where snow and ice shape the landscape. At 3559 metres, we reach the Col des Dômes, where the view opens out onto the surrounding ridges.

We continue across the exposed but accessible Dômes de Miage ridge to the Aiguille de la Bérangère (3425m). Here, the morning light illuminates the mountain pastures and coombs below, signalling the end of our route.

The descent to the Mountain hut is a leisurely one. We end the day relaxing, sharing our experiences and preparing for the next stage of our expedition.

DAY 3 / 3
D-
1500m
Distance
9km

In the morning, we leave the Mountain hut to begin the descent to Les Contamines-Montjoie. The path follows the same trajectory as on the outward journey, passing through sparse forests and alpine meadows where the pace of the group naturally eases. The morning light filters through the foliage, highlighting the gentle relief of the surrounding valleys.

On the way, we take regular breaks to observe the gradually widening valley, the mild weather making this last stage easier.

Arrival at the village marks the end of this adventure, with a mixed feeling of tiredness and satisfaction, as everyone savours the return to civilian life and new-found comfort.

Frequently asked questions

How comfortable is the Mountain hut?

You'll sleep in a comfortable Mountain hut in a shared room (single beds) with an indoor toilet, a basic cold-water toilet and a large, bright common room where you can share a meal, read, stretch out or play a board game after a day in the mountains.

What equipment do you need?

Once your registration has been confirmed, you will receive a personalised roadbook for your expedition containing a list of equipment to take in your rucksack.

Will there be a telephone network?

There is little network coverage in the high mountains. Network coverage depends on your telephone subscription. At times during your journey you'll pick up a signal, but most of the time you'll be completely disconnected. Welcome to the great outdoors!

Can altitude be a problem?

The route is designed to allow gradual acclimatisation, with the ascent spread over several days. Despite this, the altitude may make itself felt. The guide is attentive to signs of fatigue or acute mountain sickness and will adapt the pace or route if necessary. Safety always takes precedence over the objective.

Do I need to have any mountaineering experience to take part?

No, this trip is designed to be a guided introduction to mountaineering. However, a good level of mountaineering experience is essential. The guide takes the time to explain the techniques and adapts the progression to the level of the group. If you have any doubts about your level, don't hesitate to contact us. We can certainly help you and answer all your questions!

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, transparency is essential. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:

  • 30% for our guides, the mainstays of every adventure.
  • 35% for accommodation and meals, essential for your comfort.
  • 10% for equipment and transport, to guarantee safety and fluidity.
  • 25% for organisation and logistics, from first contact to the end of the expedition.
  • 1% for the rewilding of Europe, a concrete commitment to give back to nature what it gives us.

Our priority: to offer you a quality experience, with complete clarity.
