We leave the Mountain hut at dawn for our first glacier experience. We climb up the scree to the Col du Tour, then enter a more mineral and airy world on the Glacier du Trient.

We begin one of the longest glacier crossings in the Alps: the Otemma glacier, wild and almost flat, which we cover for almost 7 kilometres. The atmosphere here is unique, with white solitude and endless lines.

Arriving at the Col de Chermotane (3,053 m), we turn off towards the rocky spur that leads to the Cabane des Vignettes, perched like an eagle's nest. A spectacular, panoramic spot for the night.

We set off in the early hours of the morning for a steady climb to the Col glaciaire de l'Évêque (3,382 m), on the Italian border. From here, we plunge down the high Arolla glacier, a superb hanging valley surrounded by slender peaks.

We then climb back up to the Bertol hut, camped on a rocky ridge. The final access is via a series of metal ladders. The view of the Dent Blanche and the glaciers is breathtaking.

Frequently asked questions

Will there be a telephone network?

There is little network coverage in the high mountains. Network coverage depends on your telephone subscription. At times during your journey, you'll get a signal, but most of the time you'll be completely disconnected. Welcome to the great outdoors.

How comfortable are the refuges?

The refuges, gîtes and inns in which you will sleep are all comfortable: you will sleep in a shared room in a single bed. Blankets and pillows will be provided, but you'll simply need to take a meat bag for hygiene reasons.

What equipment do I need?

We provide all the mountaineering equipment. However, if you have your own equipment, don't hesitate to take it with you! Once your enrolment has been confirmed, we'll send you a full list of the equipment you'll need in a personalised roadbook for your expedition.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, absolutely! At checkout, you can choose Alma to pay for your booking in 2, 3 or 4 instalments. Just select Alma during checkout and follow the instructions. It’s simple, fast, and secure.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, transparency is key. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:

  • 30% for our guides, the backbone of every adventure.
  • 35% for accommodation and meals, essential for your comfort.
  • 10% for gear and transport, to ensure safety and smooth logistics.
  • 25% for organisation and logistics, from first contact to the end of your trip.

Our priority: to offer you a high-quality experience, with full transparency.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground – rain or shine. Whether it’s pouring, snowing or windy, our guides adapt the route, activities and accommodation to give you the best possible experience.

Unless safety is at risk (storm, avalanche, flooding...).
In those rare cases, we may cancel an expedition, but no earlier than one week before departure.

If that happens:
→ You can reschedule your adventure at no extra cost,
→ Or get a full refund.
