DAY 1 / 4
Accommodation
Bivouac
D+
410m
Distance
6km
We meet at 9:30 am at the car park on the Beure plateau, near the Font d'Urle ski resort. This will be an opportunity to get to know the group and your guide, to have a short safety briefing and to distribute the group and individual equipment.

Once the pulkas have been distributed and the snowshoes adjusted, we leave at around 11am for a gentle first day. This will be an opportunity to learn how to handle the pulka and get to grips with your equipment. The route, which is not very technical, crosses some beautiful clearings and soon offers an unobstructed view of the high plateaux of the Vercors.

We reach the Pré Peyret hut in the early afternoon. We set up camp and our tipi tent for the night, with an open hut nearby in case of bad weather. We prepare a meal together and spend our first evening in the wild.
DAY 2 / 4
Accommodation
Bivouac
D+
580m
Distance
12.5km
We leave the bivouac for a beautiful wild stage in the heart of the Hauts Plateaux Nature Reserve. The atmosphere gradually becomes more alpine, almost Siberian, as we cross the wide open plains of the high plateaux.

Head for the Chaumailloux hut, nestling at the foot of Mont Aiguille. Once the pulkas have been put down, the more motivated can climb the Tête Chevalière (1,959 m) on foot for an exceptional view of the eastern barrier of the Vercors.

Those who prefer to rest can stay at the hut or help set up the bivouac. Dinner and overnight stay in a tipi or in the hut.
DAY 3 / 4
Accommodation
Bivouac
D+
510m
Distance
11km
We continue northwards along the Parquet rocks, which offer magnificent views of the Alps. As the day progresses, the atmosphere becomes more forested, with vast areas covered in hooked pines, typical of the Vercors.

At the end of the day, we set up camp at the Jasse de la Chau, a wild plateau below the Grand Veymont (2,341 m), the highest point in the massif. If we still have a little time (and energy), we can climb without the pulkas to the Pas de la Ville, where ibex are often seen.

This stage is longer, but not technically difficult. It offers a summary of the diversity of the Vercors landscape.
DAY 4 / 4
Accommodation
Bivouac
D+
720m
Distance
16.5km
On this final day, we head due south across the wide open expanses of the plateau. A picnic break is planned near the Grande Cabane, surrounded by spectacular views of the Grand Veymont and the Reserve.

The route is relatively flat, ideal for the pulkas, which glide along almost by themselves. After a break, we begin the final part of our traverse, along the ridges overlooking the Diois valley. On a clear day, you can even see Mont Ventoux on the horizon.

A fine final descent takes us back to the Beure plateau, the starting point of our adventure. Packing up, a short debrief, and a convivial moment to round off this itinerary: a hot chocolate together is not out of the question!

Having loved the mountains since childhood, my passion has become my profession. In my spare time, I set up climbing routes, maintain the trails, go on new ski tours and help run the Refuge des Invincibles in Val Pellice - all to enhance the mountains where I was born. The Vaud Valleys are my ideal base camp, but I'm also regularly in the other massifs of the Alps and the Appennines.

Frequently asked questions

Is winter bivouac equipment provided?

Yes, we provide all the winter bivouac equipment: 4-season tents, a cold-weather duvet and a self-inflating mattress per person. We also include a large communal tent with a wood-burning stove and the necessary cooking equipment.

Will we have to carry our rucksack the whole way?

Yes, as we'll be roaming for 5 days, we'll be carrying our rucksacks all the way.

Will we have access to sanitary facilities (showers, toilets)?

No, on this expedition we will be totally self-sufficient for 5 days. So there will be no showers or toilets. Isn't that the real adventure?

What happens if there's no snow?

We are first and foremost hikers, and when the snow fails, we still ensure the departure of our trips. The atmosphere and the winter light are there for all to enjoy, and even if you have to wear snowshoes for a while, or sometimes do without them, the scenery is still splendid. So make sure you have good walking shoes.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
