What you will experience

Climb one of the 14 peaks over 2,000 m in the Bauges massif, facing Mont Blanc.
Crossing a UNESCO Geopark with landscapes sculpted by lapiaz, dolines and limestone ridges.
Sleep in a farmhouse with a goat house, where mountain cheese is produced on site.
Follow a balcony path facing the Alpine glaciers, before plunging into the forests of Combe d'Ire.
Watch the chamois and birds of prey at the foot of the cliffs, spyglass pointed from your Mountain hut.
Finish with a natural lookout at the Col de l'Écurie, from where you can retrace your entire 4-day itinerary.

    Welcome at 8:30 am at the Précherel car park to meet the group and guide. Briefing on the itinerary, bag check, then departure on a continuous climb through the forest to La Croix. The first magnificent view is of Trélod, the iconic summit of the Bauges.


    The rest of the route takes you through open mountain pastures, until you reach your first summit at over 2,000m. This is the perfect opportunity to take a look around and learn about the geological history of the massif.


    The descent is through a wild combe, beneath the foothills of the highest point in the Bauges, before crossing a valley and climbing back up to the Mountain hut. Situated in a privileged setting, it sometimes offers the opportunity to observe chamois with a spyglass.

After two long trips that made me fall in love with the mountains, I decided to settle in the Alps. I chose Chambéry, an ideal location between the Bauges, Chartreuse and Belledonne massifs. Since 2024, I've been devoting myself fully to my job as a mountain leader, a career change that allows me to combine exploration, environmental awareness, a taste for challenge and training, all in the heart of the mountains, a fascinating and constantly evolving environment.

What's included in the price

Included

Supervision: During these 4 days you will be accompanied by Gwen, an experienced guide with a passion for the region.
Accommodation: You will spend the 3 nights in a shared room [single beds] in authentic and comfortable refuges in the Bauges.
Catering: All meals are included from the first evening to the picnic on the last day, giving you the chance to sample the specialities of the region.

What level should you expect

Level 3
You should be at least 18 years old to participate
  • You are capable of walking 6 to 8 hours a day, with gradients of between 600 and 1300 m.
  • You're ready to tackle days of 13 to 16 km, sometimes on steep paths or ridges.
  • You're not afraid of carrying a rucksack with your gear for the day.
  • You want to experience the simplicity and friendliness of Mountain huts and small mountain structures.

  • If the minimum number of participants is reached, departure is confirmed!
  • If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we will give you a full refund.
Departure is confirmed 15 days in advance for adventures lasting more than 4 days. Departure is confirmed 7 days prior for adventures lasting less than 4 days.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a good hiker to take part?

To take part in this expedition, you need to be able to walk around 7 hours a day for 4 days, with over 1000m of positive ascent. You also need to be able to hike on mountainsides and not be prone to vertigo.

How comfortable are the rooms?

The gîtes offer a certain level of comfort: you will sleep in a single bed in a room shared with the other participants. Blankets and pillows are provided, but it is advisable to bring a sleeping bag for reasons of hygiene.

Will I have to carry a rucksack on the various hikes?

Yes, we don't plan to carry any vehicles, so you'll have to carry your rucksack as we'll be sleeping in different accommodation every night. However, blankets and pillows will be provided by the hostels, and you'll be eating in the hostels every night, so you won't need to carry any food on the hikes.

What can I do if the dates don't suit me?

If none of the proposed dates suit you, it is possible to privatise an expedition. All you need to do is form a group of at least 4 people, send us an e-mail with the dates you want, and we can organise the expedition for you!

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).


In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.


Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.


They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.


If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
