We meet at 12 noon at the Chalet du Gioberney, deep in the Valgaudemar valley. This easily accessible spot by car marks the start of our immersion in the wild world of the Ecrins National Park.
After a briefing from the guide, you'll begin a gradual ascent along a well-trodden path dotted with several small lakes. This peaceful path will take you to Lac Bleu, a real pearl at altitude, where we'll set up our first bivouac. The site is calm and uncluttered, ideal for settling down, watching the marmots and getting your bearings.
After waking up in the middle of nowhere, you'll continue your itinerary on a balcony traverse offering superb views of the massif's peaks and the Séveraisse valley below. The path, sometimes in the forest, sometimes in the open, is punctuated by panoramic breaks.
At the end of the day, you'll reach the Mountain hut at Chabournéou, perched on its promontory. We'll bivouac nearby, in an authorised area, with a beautiful view of the Gioberney cirque. The atmosphere becomes more alpine, but the route remains accessible to all.
This final day will take you to the Vallonpierre lake, nestling beneath the Sirac cliffs. There are two options: for the more motivated, a variant to the Col du Vallonpierre (approx. +4 km and +350 m ascent) will allow you to discover a beautiful viewpoint at the foot of Sirac.
For the rest of you, a well-earned break by the lake will provide a moment of relaxation, with the reflection of the peaks in the water as a backdrop.
In the early afternoon, you'll head back down along the Séveraisse valley, to walk back to the starting point and finish this short immersion holiday at around 5pm.
Used to long itinerant journeys in complete autonomy, I would be delighted to share with you the most hidden gems of this small, little-known mountain range, far from tourist areas.
Nestled between Haute Provence and the high Alpine massifs, the **Monges** offer a truly wild escape with exceptional panoramic views.
The experience of bivouacking allows for great flexibility in adapting the hike, giving us the freedom to follow our desires of the moment.
You can get to the Chalet du Gioberney by car, where you can park your car in complete safety.
If you don't have a car, you should know that we encourage car-pooling between participants by creating a whatsapp group 15 days before departure: an opportunity to get to know each other before you even start your expedition!

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
