We'll meet up in Beaufort early in the morning (9AM) for the start of this traverse. You'll gradually gain height on old forest paths, in the heart of beech and fir forests. Along the way, views open up over the Mont-Blanc massif and the villages of the Beaufortain.
The stage ends at the Mountain hut de la Croix de Pierre, perched high above the mountains, where a mountain meal awaits you and your first night at altitude.
Early departure for the Col du Joly, a veritable balcony overlooking the Mont Blanc glaciers. The trail then crosses the high mountain pastures and runs alongside the Girotte dam before climbing up to Lac Noir and the Rocher des Enclaves.
At the end of the day, we descend to the Mountain hut at La Gittaz, nestling at the bottom of a green valley. Enjoy a warm evening meal.
This is the most sporting day of the expedition. You'll cross several high passes - Croix du Bonhomme, Fours, Mya, Grand Fond - in a grandiose, mineral atmosphere. The route takes you to the heart of the wild Beaufortain, between high altitude lakes and névés.
The day finishes at the Mountain hut de Presset, opposite the famous Pierra Menta and its lake, ideal for a quiet evening.
Start at the foot of the Pierra Menta, then descend to Lac d'Amour and Cormet d'Arêches. The trail alternates between meadows and scree in a very mountain atmosphere. As an option, the more motivated can climb the Grand Mont (2,686 m) for an exceptional panorama of the Vanoise and Mont-Blanc.
Overnight at the Mountain hut de l'Alpage, where you can enjoy a hearty meal.
Last day of walking. You climb steadily towards the Col de la Bathie and then the Mirantin (2,460 m), a lookout point over the entire route.
The descent takes you through mountain pastures and fir forests before reaching Beaufort, the final point of your journey. A drink or ice cream on the terrace brings the adventure to a close.

As a mountain leader and ecologist by training, I see the mountains as a real adventure.
A keen trail runner, I like to follow the ridges, connect the valleys and feel the freedom of movement at altitude. Bivouacking is at the heart of what I do: sleeping outdoors, living to the rhythm of the elements, prolonging the immersion. Every outing becomes a human adventure, a space for learning and shared wonder.
You can get to Albertville station by train.
From there, take a bus to Arêches-Beaufort with line 21
It is possible to drive to the meeting point, where you can leave your car in a free car park.
If you don't have a car, you should know that we're encouraging car-pooling between participants by creating a WhatsApp group 15 days before departure: an opportunity to get to know each other before you even start your expedition!

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
