We meet at 12:00 PM in Sainte-Enimie.
We'll start our stay with a half-day hike around the magnificent medieval town of Sainte Enimie: a stroll through its cobbled streets, then a climb to the Hermitage to discover this incredible semi-troglodyte monastery on the side of a cliff, and we'll finish at the Rocher des Egoutals to get some perspective on the town.
In the evening we share a meal and enjoy a relaxed friendly atmosphere at the lodge as we unwind and talk about the day.
Transfer for the overnight stay: about 20 minutes by car to reach the gîte.
Note:
It is possible that days 1 and 2 may be swapped with days 3 and 4 on certain trips, depending on accommodation availability.
A beautiful day's hiking on this second day, as we wind our way through the divine Gorges du Tarn above the village of La Malène. The climb to Roc des Hourtous is well worth it, but the reward up there is breathtaking, and we'll probably be accompanied by the local vultures.
Transfer for the overnight stay: about 10 minutes by car to reach the gîte.
Once in the Le Rozier area, we'll spend the morning visiting the Maison des Vautours to find out more about the history, ecology and protection programme for these emblematic species in the area. A rich educational museum is available, as well as an observation terrace with long views and panoramic views, and a projection room.
The rest of the day will be a half-day hike to discover the famous Vases des Gorges de la Jonte circuit. These monoliths are incredible geological curiosities suspended above the gorges, the two most imposing being the Vase de Chine and the Vase de Sèvre.
In the evening, we share a warm meal and enjoy a friendly atmosphere at the lodge, taking time to reflect on the day and strengthen group bonds.
Transfer for the overnight stay: about 20 minutes by car to reach the gîte.
For this full-day hike, we'll be staying in the Le Rozier area but climbing above the Gorges du Tarn. The start of the route is gentle and calm in the forest, perfect for warming up in the morning. Once we've reached the Pas de l'Arc, we'll embark on a magnificent balcony trail that winds through the impressive limestone cliffs, offering many panoramic views as well as hidden arches full of surprises. The colony of vultures will be more present than ever, gracing us with long, beautiful soaring flights over our heads and just under our feet in places. Once back on the Causses Méjean plateau, take a break for a drink at the charming, authentic Cassagnes bar.
Transfer for the overnight stay: about 10 minutes by car to reach the gîte.
On this final day, we'll be exploring the magnificent forest around Puech de la Caxe, soaking up the peace and quiet of this wild corner. We'll also have some superb views of the gorges, before finishing at the Roc des Hourtous. We'll return to the village of Sainte-Enimie to conclude this wonderful adventure.
We wrap up around 12:00 PM at the end of the trip.
