Pedal along the dikes of the Delta Project, the world's only engineering network protecting Zeeland from North Sea storms.
Lunch with your feet in the sand, facing the Oosterschelde, the largest marine reserve in the Netherlands.
Cycle through the Natura 2000 polders, where herons and seals can be seen at low tide.
Try your hand at kitesurfing on the beach at Ouddorp Strand, one of Europe's most famous spots for its consistent wind.
Relax in a wooden lodge after a day's cycling in the fresh air and enjoy an al fresco dinner, lulled by the call of the gulls.

DAY 1 / 4
Accommodation
camping in a cabin
D+
80 m
Distance
35 km

We meet at 11am in Ouddorp, directly at the bike hire shop.

After collecting your equipment and taking a few safety instructions, you'll set off as a group towards the campsite, located near an inlet. Once the tents are set up, we share a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon, you'll cycle around the polders, dykes and small harbours that characterise the region. We return to the campsite in the late afternoon. Together, we prepare an outdoor dinner, then the evening is free to enjoy the sea air.

Note: Don't forget to pack a picnic lunch for this first day!

DAY 2 / 4
Accommodation
cabin camping
D+
100 m
Distance
55 km

After a hearty breakfast, we're back on the bikes for an immersion in Zeeland.

The route follows the dykes of the Delta Project, passes through protected natural areas and offers plenty of birdwatching opportunities. Lunch is taken in the middle of nature.

Return to the campsite in the late afternoon. Depending on the wind or the wishes of the group, the route can be split into two loops (morning and afternoon).

DAY 3 / 4
Accommodation
cabin camping

The day starts with a short bike ride to the beach at Ouddorp Strand. Today, you'll be taking part in an introduction to kitesurfing with Michael: learning about the equipment, setting up the sail, safety rules and first exercises on the sand.

After a picnic, we'll move on to towed swimming: an exercise without a board that gives you more confidence and independence in the water. If the wind is light, the afternoon can be replaced by a cycle ride along the coast.

Return to the campsite at the end of the day, followed by a final dinner and a convivial evening. Meals can be cooked together on site or enjoyed in a typical restaurant nearby.

DAY 4 / 4
Distance
35 km

After breakfast, we pack up camp before setting off on one last adventure.

Depending on the weather, the morning may be devoted to cycling, or to a recovery session of towed swimming if this was not possible the day before. Lunch is taken by the water's edge, followed by a final cycling loop in the surrounding area.

The trip ends with the return of the bikes to Ouddorp, scheduled for around 4pm.

Do I need to bring my own bike or can I hire one on site?

Both options are available! You can bring your own gravel bike, if suitable, or hire a gravel bike directly when you book.

What type of bike should I bring?

A gravel bike, mountain bike or VTC in good condition. Gravel = fast and versatile, mountain bike = comfortable and stable on technical terrain, mountain bike = a compromise between comfort and efficiency. Helmets are compulsory. Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
