Meet at 10am at the Roche Haut climbing site car park.
The morning is devoted to climbing on a shaded cliff by the lake, offering routes of all levels. Ideal for discovering or progressing in a natural environment, with guiding and equipment provided.

At lunchtime, transfer to the lakeside for a picnic (swimming possible).
In the afternoon, inflate your packraft for an introductory sail in calm water on the Lac de Serre-Ponçon. The aim is to familiarise you with the handling of the boat and the basic techniques, with a view to river outings.
Return at the end of the day to the Méolans gîte for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 / 5
Accommodation
Gîte
Activity time
6h
Distance
6 km

This day is dedicated to the aquarando, a water walk in the upper Ubaye valley. Depending on the water level, there are two possible routes: upstream when the water is high or downstream when the river is lower.

After a briefing on river safety techniques, you will be launched for a trip that combines swimming, floating, jumping (optional) and observing the fauna and environment!

Take a picnic break by a natural pool, before continuing downstream, exploring gorges and accessible rapids. Technical sections can be avoided on foot if necessary.

The day ends with a short walk back to the vehicles, passing through the village of Serenne or following a balcony path depending on the exit point.

DAY 3 / 5
Accommodation

Activity time
6h
Distance
5 km

It's time to set off for a full day's packrafting on the Ubaye. You walk along the left bank from the Maison du Bois car park at La Fresquière, packraft in your rucksack, to the Gimette leisure area. The trail passes through a wooded area where you can observe the valley's diverse vegetation.

After inflating the boats, we launch at the end of the Thuiles rapids to practise basic whitewater manoeuvres.

After a picnic by the water, we'll head down the Ubaye through easy sections to the Rioclar rapids, before navigating between gravel pits and wooded areas where we'll need to read the river to find the right passage.
Disembark at La Fresquière.

DAY 4 / 5
Accommodation
Gîte
Activity time
6h
Distance
4 km

You continue your discovery of Packraft, this time on a more sporting section. The guide will choose the route according to the conditions and the level of the group.

The aim is to make technical progress while keeping a safe distance. Some marked rapids can be carried (avoided on foot).

The day includes a friendly picnic by the river, then the descent continues until the final disembarkation.

DAY 5 / 5
Distance
3 km
Activity time
6h

Departure for the "Martinet-Lauzet" route, considered to be one of the most emblematic of the Ubaye. This section of the river is suitable for participants who have already acquired the basics of whitewater navigation. The marked rapids are located upstream and can be navigated on foot.

Lunch break by the water before continuing down the Lauzet gorges to the exit point at La Source.

At the end of the afternoon, return to the Roche Haut climbing site for a sunset session, giving you the chance to try out new routes or pick up where you left off on the first day. The trip ends with a convivial moment shared by the lake.

Distances, times and levels of difficulty are given for information only and may vary according to the weather, technical level and pace of the group.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
