We'll meet at 6.30pm in Edinburgh to get to know our guide and find out about the programme over a good meal. If you arrive the day before, take the opportunity to explore the Athens of the North at your own pace!
After a hearty breakfast, we start the day with a guided tour of the town, before climbing the 250-metre ascent of Arthur Seat Hill, whose slopes are covered in flamboyant gorse, the bright yellow flowering shrubs that brighten up the landscape. Once back in town, we share a pub lunch to savour some local specialities.
In the afternoon, we set off towards the Highlands, to reach the mythical Isle of Skye, full of legends and magnificent landscapes. On the way, we stop to admire the mystical lochs and the majestic castle of Eilean Donan, made famous by the 1986 film Highlander.
At the end of the day, we settle in for the night in Broadford, ready for the next stage of our adventure.
After a good night's sleep, we transfer from Broadford to the small port of Elgol, about 30 minutes away. From here, we have two options: if the conditions allow, we embark on a boat trip (cost around £20) which takes us directly to Coruisk Loch, at the foot of the majestic Black Cuilins. In the event of bad weather, we start our walk from Elgol and follow the beautiful shores of Loch Coruisk, nestling in the heart of Scotland's most rugged mountains.
Once over the pass, we cross into the nearby plain, where the Red Cuilins, the pinkish sandstone mountains that glow in the sunlight, can be seen. We continue our walk to the village of Sligachan, reputed to be the historic starting point for expeditions into the Cuilins.
At the end of the day, we take a scheduled bus (or private transfer) to the port of Portree, where we stay in a youth hostel for two nights.
Today we're off for a day's hike to Ben Tianavaig, which rises to 413 metres and dominates the island of Raasay on one side and Loch Portree on the other. This coastal route offers spectacular views, alternating between sea and mountains, and immerses us in a wild setting that is unique in Scotland. We make our way slowly to the top, enjoying the breathtaking scenery and fresh sea air.
As we make our way back down to the starting point, located on the edge of a beach, we may be lucky enough to spot a few seals basking near the shore, as well as a variety of seabirds that inhabit this area. At the end of the day, we return to Portree, where we spend the night.
After recharging our batteries, we set off for the Old Man of Storr, the iconic rocky outcrop that stands out from the cliffs and offers impressive views of the surrounding area. We continue north along the Trotternish ridge. On one side, the landscape is made up of gentle slopes that gradually descend towards the Outer Hebrides. On the other, sheer cliffs plunge abruptly, adding a spectacular touch to this walk.
The trail guides us through the glens of the Great Glens, an enchanting setting that seems straight out of a fairytale, where we can almost imagine encountering some legendary creatures.
At the end of the day, we reach the village of Uig, the main crossing point to the Outer Hebrides, and finish our stage in this picturesque port.
After exploring the wonders of the Old Man of Storr, we begin our day by following the central ridge of the Trotternish Peninsula, a path that offers 360° views of wild, unspoilt landscapes. Step by step, the path leads us towards the Quiraing massif, a site sculpted by erosion over the centuries, where the cliffs stand like natural ramparts. Winding our way through these rocky peaks, we get an impressive glimpse of the forces of nature that have shaped these unique formations...
The descent gradually takes us back to the seaside, where the wind carries the salty air and reconnects us with the waves of the Atlantic. At the end of the day, we make our way to the cosy Flodigarry inn, a simple, friendly place, perfect for catching up on the day's highlights over a good meal.
After a well-deserved rest, we begin the day's journey back to the capital. But this return journey to Edinburgh is far from ordinary. On the way, we pass through the famous Glencoe Valley, a must for lovers of wilderness and outdoor activities.
We take a break to admire this mythical setting, and if we're lucky, we might even get close to the emblematic Highland cows, with their long, soft fleece.
We arrive in Edinburgh at the end of the day, where we enjoy a final evening in the Scottish capital.
After a final breakfast at the youth hostel, we take a moment to say goodbye to Scotland. For those who wish, this is also an opportunity to extend the adventure and continue exploring this land of legends. For the rest of us, it's time to head back home, with a head full of memories and a heart full of moments shared.
Julien has had an unusual career: an engineer and doctor of mathematics who became an actor for 15 years, he finally swapped the stage for the trails. Now a qualified mountain guide, he combines a passion for the great outdoors with a love of words, sometimes with an impromptu reading along the way. Based in the Massif Central, he also guides in Scotland, a country he knows well and is particularly fond of.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
