Meet at 2pm in Lus-la-Croix-Haute (a village in the Drôme region, on the Grenoble-Gap line) to drop off your gear at your accommodation before setting off in trail mode around the Sarrier mountain to explore the Trièves landscape. The first 3 kilometres will be spent warming up on gentle slopes, before the climb becomes steeper up to the Col Navite (1400 m), alternating between forest tracks and narrower paths with no technical difficulties. The aim of this first outing is to warm up and get into a collective rhythm: effort management on the way up, recovery and support techniques on the way down, and reading the terrain. The descent takes you through the Toussière gorges and around the village of Lus, with views of the Trièves ridges along the way. Late afternoon at the accommodation (chambres d'hôtes and tables d'hôtes) for a moment of relaxation and a brief debriefing to prepare for the rest of the course.

We leave the accommodation for the Vallon de La Jarjatte, a cul-de-sac at the foot of the ridges of the Dévoluy massif, passing through the hamlet of La Jarjatte on a loop of just under 10 km with little change in altitude; the terrain alternates between tracks and paths. We begin the ascent via the Col de la Croix, skirting the ridge and mountain pastures of the Montagne de Paille before reaching the Pointe Feuillette (1882 m). On a clear day, the ridge offers a direct view of the Dévoluy wall, the Trièves plateau and the Vercors massif, making this a very close day out. The descent takes you through mountain pastures and then forest, along a path overlooking the Vallauris gorges before passing through the hamlet of Mas Rebuffat and returning to the village of Lus to complete the loop. The alternation of ridges, mountain pastures, paths and tracks is used for educational work: ascent and descent techniques, use of poles, trail postures and rhythms, in practical, guiding exercises. Back at the accommodation, we conclude with a group debriefing focusing on training plans, nutrition and recovery, with practical advice on how to extend the learning process.

This is the third and final day: we complete the tour of the Côte Belle valley as far as the Croix du Rognon (1851 m), crossing two passes, a day designed to put into practice the techniques we have learnt. We set off from Lus-la-Croix-Haute, passing through three hamlets and climbing steep mountain pastures before reaching the Côte Belle ridge, a terrain of ridges and grassy slopes from which we dominate the small valley. The path takes us to the Rognon cross, the highest point of the day, where we check our terrain reading and identification of the surrounding massifs. The descent begins on a steep path and then eases off before the ascent to the Col de la Chante and then the Col de Tournerond, where we practise effort management and climbing techniques. Then it's on to the real thing, alternating between footpaths, forest tracks and the crossing of the Amayères gorges as far as the hamlet of the same name, the third and final gorges of the tour. Back to Lus-la-Croix-Haute and the accommodation for a shower, tidying up and departure around 2pm; the SNCF station is about 30 minutes' walk away (Grenoble-Gap line).

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between trail running and hiking?

When we set off on a trail ride, we run (when we can). Trail running is similar to classic hiking, with a faster pace (without running) and both positive and negative Ascent.

What learning will be highlighted?

We will be focusing on the following aspects: Running techniques on downhill sections How to position yourself Progression techniques on uphill sections Optimum use of poles How to position your feet on stony paths Learning to manage food supplies properly on trail sections If there's another subject you'd like to learn more about, please let us know. Our guide François-Xavier will adapt to your needs.

Do I need to have done any trail running or hiking before?

The aim of this expedition is to discover the sport of trail running and hiking. It is therefore aimed at anyone who wants to try these sports for the first time, or at people who have already done them but who are not seasoned trail runners.

What equipment should I take with me?

In terms of equipment, you'll need to take the following with you: A rucksack for a day or half-day outing. Hiking poles (available for hire) Water bottle or 2-litre water bag Waterproof windbreaker (if possible) Warm technical running clothes Running trainers Buff Gloves and hat

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, transparency is essential. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:

  • 30% for our guides, the mainstays of every adventure.
  • 35% for accommodation and meals, essential for your comfort.
  • 10% for equipment and transport, to guarantee safety and fluidity.
  • 25% for organisation and logistics, from first contact to the end of the expedition.
  • 1% for the rewilding of Europe, a concrete commitment to give back to nature what it gives us.

Our priority: to offer you a quality experience, with complete clarity.
