DAY 1 / 8

Arrival in the afternoon at Tromsø airport, where your guide will give you a warm welcome. After a short van transfer, you'll settle into your hotel in the town centre. Depending on your time of arrival, you can take a stroll and visit the town of Tromsø, or simply relax before a convivial dinner that we'll all have together in a local restaurant.

We leave Tromsø by minibus and head for the island of Senja, through some superb coastal scenery. On the way, we take a short warm-up hike on the Finnsnes heights, to warm up our legs and catch a glimpse of Senja silhouetted against the horizon.

In the late afternoon, we arrive and settle into our accommodation facing the sea surrounded by fjords, where we'll be spending the next few days.

After an invigorating breakfast, we set off on our first hike up Flobjørn, 611 metres high. The trail begins with a gentle climb through peat bogs, already offering great views of Stormoa, Senja's second highest peak.

Reaching the south-east ridge, we follow a panoramic ridge that leads us to the summit. The panorama from the top is breathtaking: views of Bergsfjorden, surrounding peaks such as Luttinden and Purka and, on a clear day, as far as Husfjellet to the north-west.

We return to our base camp at the end of the day, where we can enjoy an aperitif overlooking the sea and hunt for the northern lights once the sun has set.

After a hot coffee, we set off for a gradual hike to one of the island's most beautiful peaks: Husfjellet, offering a breathtaking backdrop: on one side the wild Bergshøyan archipelago, on the other Ersfjord and the open ocean. 180° panoramic views of the sharp peaks of Senja, with the Devil's Teeth sometimes standing out on the horizon.

Back to our base for a gentle end to the day: free time, a comforting dinner and, with a bit of luck, the sky illuminated by the aurora borealis.

After a hearty breakfast, we head for the start of the Keipen hike, culminating at 938 metres. The trail begins with a steep climb through dense forest, then crosses marshy areas and stony fields. The final section is a sustained climb over rocky terrain, requiring a good level of fitness.

The reward at the top is well worth the effort: panoramic views over Ørnfjorden, the villages of Husøy and Fjordgård, and the iconic peaks of Segla, Barden and Grytetippen.

Back at our accommodation, we enjoy a warm and friendly evening.

After breakfast, we set off on one of Senja's iconic hikes. The trail first takes us to the summit of Hesten, offering a breathtaking view of Segla, famous for its vertical wall plunging into the fjord.

For the more motivated, the Segla can also be climbed. Although short, it is steep and demanding, with exposed sections. The view from the summit is spectacular, dominating the fjord and surrounding mountains.

Back at our accommodation, we enjoy our last evening on the island: a convivial dinner, time for sharing and, conditions permitting, watching the Northern Lights to round off our adventure in style.

We leave Senja with a touch of nostalgia, but the journey is not over. On the way to Tromsø, we stopped off on the island of Sommarøy for one last easy walk by the ocean. It's a different, gentler atmosphere, like a slow finale.

Back in Tromsø, free evening in town for one last treat before hitting the road again.

Last breakfast in the Arctic. Our bags are packed, but our heads still hang on the peaks of Senja, the reflections of the fjord and the dancing lights of the night sky. Transfer from the hotel to the airport and end of the trip in the morning.

Frequently asked questions

How comfortable is the accommodation?

The house is a typical Norwegian house with 4 bedrooms: 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds, and 2 bedrooms with 1 double bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin, a sitting area, a dining area and a terrace.

What will be the average journey time to reach the trailheads?

On average, we will drive between 25 minutes and 1 hour maximum to reach the start of the hikes.

What about meals on site?

All meals are prepared together in a friendly, collective approach, with everyone pitching in. When you arrive, your guide will already have done most of the shopping for the week. It will be possible to do additional shopping for fresh produce in local shops.

Will we get to see the Northern Lights?

The Northern Lights can be seen from mid-September on the island of Senja. The months of September and October are therefore ideal, as the light/dark ratio is 12H/12H.

As we'll be sleeping in the same place every night, you'll simply need to bring a small rucksack to carry everything you'll need for the day's hike (water bottle, energy bars, picnic, etc.).

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.
