Meet at Pont (Valsavarenche, 1,960 m) at 10am. After introductions and a gear check, we'll take the path to the Victor Emmanuel II Mountain hut. The route is a gradual one: first through the forest, then across the mountain pastures, already offering fine views of the surrounding peaks.
On arrival at the Mountain hut, we'll take time to settle in and have lunch. The afternoon will be devoted to a safety and technical workshop: you will learn or revise the basics of climbing techniques (conversions, reading the terrain) and you will be able to test your equipment (crampons, ice axes, skins).
The day will end with dinner at the Mountain hut and a briefing for the following day, before your first night at altitude.
After breakfast at the Mountain hut, we'll set off at around 7.30am for a gentle, then steeper climb to the Tresenta east col. Depending on the conditions, the last few metres can be covered on foot or with crampons.
The panorama from the pass is impressive: you can admire Gran Paradiso, Ciarforon and Grivola.
We then return to the Mountain hut for a late lunch.
In the afternoon, you have two options: take part in a glacier workshop (roping up, progressing in glacial terrain) or rest and recuperate.
Dinner and a second night at the Mountain hut.
We'll set off at dawn (4:00 am) to climb the summit via the classic route via the Gran Paradiso glacier. The last 100 m will be climbed on foot with crampons, and a short aerial section will take us up to the statue of the Virgin, the summit's landmark.
After enjoying the views, we'll ski back down to the Mountain hut for a short tea break, then continue on to Pont.
The expedition ends at 4pm in Pont.
Hi, I'm Patrick, a mountain guide from the Piedmont region. I became a mountain guide in 2018 and since then I've never left the peaks! As a mountain rescue instructor, I love sharing my experience and knowledge. Whether in Monte Rosa, my native Piedmont or Valle d'Aosta, the Italian Alps are my playground and my home.
With 30 years' experience as a mountain guide, I'll be sharing my techniques with you, but above all, my pleasure in experiencing nature to the full. Together, we'll explore my vision of the mountains: fabulous landscapes, dreamy peaks, new cultures, and maybe... the summit of your dreams!
I look forward to seeing you, whether you're on skis, climbing shoes, crampons or simply hiking boots.
You can travel by train to Geneva station and then take a bus to Aosta.
From there, you will need to take a taxi to make the connection between Aosta and Pont.
If you don't have a car, you should know that we're encouraging car-pooling between participants by creating a WhatsApp group 15 days before departure: an opportunity to get to know each other before you even start your expedition!

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
