What you will experience

Learn how to find your way in the great outdoors, using your compass, altimeter and landmarks, in the heart of the wild Vercors massif.
Light a stone fire like the ancients, and discover several methods for filtering water and protecting yourself from the cold.
Identify and use edible wild plants from the local flora to enrich your bushcraft breakfast.
Set up your bivouac in the middle of the forest using knots and shelter techniques learned in the field.
Practice your new skills in autonomy and safety during exercises in real conditions before leaving the massif.

    We’ll meet at 11.15 am at Valence TGV station to set off for our adventure site in the Vercors. Once there, we’ll get our kit ready and set off on our trek, starting with our first orienteering exercises in the great outdoors.



    Along the way, we’ll discover the plants that can be found and used for food. We’ll head to the campsite to spend the night. We’ll make the most of our time there to learn how to make fire using flint, water filtration techniques and the basics of keeping warm.

After completing my 'traditional' studies and entering the world of work, I quickly realised that it wasn't for me. So, after 5 years in a design office, I changed direction and became a guide in as many disciplines as I could: mountain guide, river guide, climbing and mountain-biking instructor.

What's included in the price

Included

Supervision: You will be supervised by a qualified mountain guide.
Catering: All meals are included from dinner on day 1 to lunch on day 3. Bushcraft cooking around the fire, shared in the middle of the forest.
Accommodation: Two nights in a bivouac in a wild natural setting, with a night under a tarp or in a hammock.
Technical equipment: The collective bivouac equipment is provided, including shelters, tarps, and wood stoves.
Shuttle bus: A transfer is organised from Valence TGV station to the starting point of the tour.

What level should you expect

Level 2
You should be at least 18 years old to participate
WHO IS IT FOR?
You want to experience your first real bushcraft immersion, with greater self-reliance and a more rustic level of comfort.

You’re at the right level if:
  • You can walk for 3 to 5 hours a day
  • You’re comfortable carrying a rucksack weighing 5 to 10 kg
  • You’re happy to sleep outdoors, either in a bivouac or under natural shelter
  • You’re comfortable with limited comforts: cold, damp, basic toilet facilities and simple meals
  • You’re keen to play an active part: building fires, setting up shelter, navigation, cooking and camp management
  • You don’t need any previous experience, but you should come with a positive attitude

You can drive to Valence TGV station, where you can park your vehicle for €34 per 72 hours.

Do consider carpooling: a WhatsApp group will be set up 10 days before departure so you can organise this with the other participants.

Departure is confirmed 15 days in advance for adventures lasting more than 4 days. Departure is confirmed 7 days prior for adventures lasting less than 4 days.

Frequently asked questions

Is the holiday suitable for beginners?

You don't need any experience of bivouacking or survival. This adventure is designed to teach you the basics of survival in the great outdoors in a friendly, progressive atmosphere.

How is on-site transport organised?

Local transport from the station to the adventure playground is provided by the guide.

What level of physical fitness is required?

You should be able to hike for around 4 hours a day with an Ascent of 400 metres, carrying your own rucksack and some light collective equipment. You don't need to be a great sportsman, but you do need to be in good physical condition.

Will there be a water point on site?

Yes, we'll be learning how to filter and secure water in a natural environment. It's one of the skills you'll be practising during your stay!

How are the nights going?

You'll sleep under a tarp, in a hammock or under the stars, depending on your choice and the weather. Nights are spent in the wilderness, with no sanitary facilities or modern comforts, for a truly immersive experience.

What equipment should I bring?

A detailed list will be sent to you after you have registered. Please bring a rucksack (min. 40 litres), sleeping bag, sleeping mat, headlamp, knife, small saw, flint and suitable clothing. Collective equipment is provided.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.


Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.


They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.


If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).


In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:

→ Or receive a full refund.
