Meet at 9.30am in La Fouillouse, a small hamlet at the end of the valley. We'll start with a short approach hike in an isolated valley with no road network, ideal for concentrating on learning. Along the way, we'll be talking about pace, effort management and the simple things you need to know to enjoy the mountains.
On arrival, you'll learn how to choose an effective bivouac site (terrain, exposure, wind, safety). The afternoon is 100% practical: setting up shelters with tarpaulins, water management, thermoregulation and lighting fires depending on the conditions. We finish with the collective installation of the camp and a hot meal, before a first night under the stars.
After a debriefing on the night, we prepare the route together on the map: heading for the heights, between 2400 and 2800 m depending on the conditions.
The climb alternates between alpine clearings and more open passages, with panoramic views revealed as the effort progresses. The pace is steady, with breaks to work on orientation (compass), effort management and reading the terrain.
Today's objective: to set up a bivouac at altitude and learn to manage our autonomy when the going gets tough (cold, wind, resources). At the end of the afternoon, we set up camp, cook together and enjoy a real mountain evening, simple and intense.
Today, we're aiming for a more 'grand décor' day, near Lac Premier and Lac des Neuf Couleurs.
The idea is to consolidate what you've learnt: efficient progress, orientation, choosing breaks and managing your comfort at altitude. We'll take advantage of this stage to observe the alpine flora and understand how the environment changes with altitude.
Progress is made over a variety of terrain (mountain pastures, stony paths, ridges), without trying to perform. At the end of the day, we'll be back at La Fouillouse and it'll be time to say goodbye.

I'm a mountain leader by passion, a lover of travel, experiences and encounters, and I'd like to help you discover survival through courses tailored to your needs. My travels and long treks on my own, both abroad and in France with the Traversée des Pyrénées and many others, have enabled me to learn to push back my limits and put myself "out of my comfort zone".

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
