We’ll meet at around 10.30 am in the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon, outside ‘Lou Cafetié’.
The day begins at the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon, at an ideal training site for revising and perfecting the techniques essential for progressing on multi-pitch routes. Under your guide’s guidance, you’ll go over the basics: belaying, setting belay stations, rope handling and placing protection.
Once the techniques have been reviewed, it’s time to put them into practice on a few easy pitches to apply what you’ve learnt. The limestone cliffs offer varied terrain and allow you to progress gradually, accompanied by an experienced guide who will fine-tune your techniques and correct your movements throughout the day.
Progress is made step by step: technical exercises in the morning, followed by route climbs in the afternoon, with breaks to debrief on techniques, refine your skills and adjust your kit.
At the end of the day, we return to the starting point to pack away the kit and review what we’ve learnt. This is an opportunity to identify the final areas to work on before tackling the multi-pitch routes over the following days.
