Dog Sledding

You'll arrive at Arvidsjaur airport, where you'll be picked up for an hour's transfer to your base camp. You'll discover your warm, traditional and comfortable wooden chalet. Once you've settled in, you'll have your first dinner together, a chance to get to know each other and gently immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Far North.
After a good night's sleep, we'll meet for breakfast to go over the week's programme. Before getting down to business, we'll head to the changing room to complete your equipment, and then you'll get to know the people who'll be sharing the adventure with you: Elsa and Fred's pack of 60 dogs, each with their own name. The care, feeding and training of the dogs will hold no secrets for you by the end of the week!
You'll then get a full briefing on driving the sled, and try out a few technical exercises.
In the afternoon, you'll put on your snowshoes for your first exploration in search of animal tracks.
The end of the day is free: sauna, feeding the dogs or relaxing by the fire.
Today, you'll be putting the techniques you learnt the day before into practice: you'll set off with your own team of 4 dogs, alone at the controls, for an outing guided by a musher.
In the afternoon, it's time for the cani-rando: attached to your dog by an elastic lanyard, you let yourself be pulled through the snow. A real team effort!
In the evening, a convivial dinner at the chalet, followed by a magical moment under the northern lights if the sky is clear.
Today, we're heading north! We hit the road to cross an invisible but mythical frontier: the Arctic Circle, located near Jokkmokk, one of the most emblematic villages of Sami culture in Sweden.
The highlight of the day is a visit to the Ájtte Museum, an ethnographic treasure trove dedicated to the Sami people and life in Lapland. Here you can discover the traditions, history, costumes and skills of this indigenous people, who have managed to preserve their identity despite the challenges of climate and time.
It's an opportunity to talk about ancestral ways of life, to understand the profound link between man and nature in these extreme lands... and perhaps to re-examine your own points of reference.
For this new day, it's time for another form of Nordic travel: Altai skiing, a cross between ski touring and snowshoeing.
You'll get to try out this stable way of gliding, ideal for exploring snow-covered forests gently. It's a day of discovery and the pleasure of moving in the snow.
For this last day of activity, we're off on the slopes again with your dog team. With everything you've learnt since the start of the week behind you, you're gaining in confidence, gliding along smoothly and enjoying every moment with your dogs.
The rest of the day is free: you can go snowshoeing on your own, take a nap in the warmth of the snow, read a good book by the fire... or simply enjoy a quiet moment to anchor all those memories.
Last wake-up call in Lapland: we take the time for a final coffee, a last look at the snow-covered forests and perhaps a final cuddle with the dogs. The suitcases close, but the memories are already overflowing.
On the way to the airport, the anecdotes fly and the head is full of bright images.

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
