End the day in the forest of Froidcour for a guided listening session to the bellowing of the stag, at the heart of the mating season.

Learn how to inflate your packraft with an inflation bag before descending 5km of river, between the peaceful meanders of the Amblève.

We'll meet at 11.30am at the Cheneux car park to get to know the group, explain the day's programme and hand you your rucksack containing all the packraft equipment (5kg max).

After the guide's briefing, we'll set off on a forest hike that will take us through wooded paths towards the upper Coo basin. At around 1.30pm, we'll take a picnic break in the peace and quiet of the countryside.

At the Coo embarkation area, we inflate the packrafts together with the help of our inflation bag: a new technique that your guide will teach you!

At around 3.30pm, we set off down the river in a packraft for around 5 kilometres, or 1? hours of easy navigation. On arrival, we reach our original starting point and return to our vehicles, where we swap our packrafts for binoculars to listen to the deer bellowing.

In the early evening, we head off to the forest of Froidcour for a guided walk in a small group to listen to the stag's roar. This experience allows you to observe the local wildlife at a unique time of year.

The activity finishes at around 9pm. You'll leave with your head full of sounds, images and new experiences.

What level should you expect

Level 1

You should be at least 18 years old to participate

You're capable of walking for 2 hours at the start of the day (8km and 300m D+).
You'd like to discover the packraft activity in the magical atmosphere of the stag bellow.
You're ready to carry a 5kg rucksack for the 2-hour walk (rucksack containing packraft and paddles).
No previous packraft or kayak experience is required.

You can reach Coo station by train.

Departure station > Coo station

From there, we'll pick you up and take you to the meeting point.

Use Tictactrip to plan your journey (carpooling, train, etc.) in the most economical and environmentally-friendly way.

You can drive to the meeting point and leave your car in a free car park.

If you don't have a car, you should know that we are encouraging car-pooling between participants by creating a WhatsApp group 15 days before departure: an opportunity to get to know each other before you even start your expedition!

If the minimum number of participants is reached, departure is confirmed!
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we will give you a full refund.

Departure is confirmed 15 days in advance for adventures lasting more than 4 days. Departure is confirmed 7 days prior for adventures lasting less than 4 days.

Will we be alone in the packrafts?

Yes, we offer single-seater packrafts: the chance to be the master of your own packraft!

Is this expedition accessible to children?

Yes, children accompanied by an adult are welcome at the weekend.

What type of clothing should I bring?

To have the best possible expedition, it's important to bring clothing that's suited to the weather. Before you leave, you'll receive a roadbook with a checklist of the clothes you need to pack to help you prepare for the weekend.

When is the best time to listen to a stag bellow?

The period for listening to the stag bellow is very short, from mid-September to mid-October.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
