The Vosges Nature Park is a must for all nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts. From snowshoeing to hiking and trail running, the Vosges offers a variety of activities. And it's only a 5-hour drive from Brussels! An ideal place to get away from it all, just a stone's throw from home.
Hiking
Whether in summer or winter, the Parc Naturel des Vosges offers a multitude of paths to take through the wilderness. Here are our 2 favourite summer walks:
- Le Vallon de Rimbach: this hike of varying lengths (around 4 hours) crosses forests and ridges to offer superb views. Characterised by its positive altitude difference (915m +), it also allows you to take plenty of breaks. There are plenty of benches and tables along the way.
- The Tour des 5 Lacs: On this 26km hike, you'll discover 5 superb lakes. They will surprise you with their different sizes and environments. You'll pass by the majestic Lac Blanc, the Lac Noir, then the Lac du Forlet and the Lac Vert, best known for their charm and density of green fir trees. Finally, you'll finish the hike on the Vosges ridges to enjoy the panoramic views before descending to Etang des Dames. Despite its difficulty and more challenging nature, this hike will give you breathtaking views.
Snowshoe trekking
Snowshoe trekking in winter! For some years now, the Vosges has been renowned as one of the most popular spots for snowshoe trekking. Here are our winter favourites:
- Tour du Petit Ballon: The Tour du Petit Ballon is renowned for the panoramic views it offers from its various vantage points. This 6.8km snowshoe hike, with its 347m vertical drop, will take you a good half-day. You'll pass along wide wooded paths, tracks and ridges.
- The Champ de Feu is one of the favourite tours for snowshoe hikers. You'll find yourself immersed in nature for almost 3 hours on a route that's accessible to all.

Trail
The Vosges mountain range is not only ideal for hiking and snowshoeing, but also for trail running. The hilly terrain with its ascents and descents offers an exceptional playground for trail enthusiasts!
- Crossing the Vosges massif on a trail: for a discovery course, crossing the massif is a highly recommended route. You'll discover the region through the Vosges du Nord regional nature park and the Ballons d'Alsace. The variety of landscapes will allow you to enjoy the wonders that the mountains have to offer. Between forests, stubble fields, lakes and ponds, you'll come away with stars in your eyes!
