DAY 1 / 3
Accommodation
Mountain hut
D+
700m

We meet at 9am at the Grands Montets lift car park in Argentière. After a welcome by the guide, a briefing and a chance to meet the other members of the group, we take the Grands Montets gondola up to the summit.

From the top station, a short climb takes us to the Col des Grands Montets, a panoramic pass over the peaks of the massif.

The descent that follows takes us to the Argentière glacier, which we slowly climb up to the Argentière Mountain hut, nestling close to the glacier. This will be our first night at altitude.

DAY 2 / 3
Accommodation
Mountain hut
D-
700m
D+
1100m

From the Mountain hut, we descend to the Argentière glacier to join the route to the Col du Chardonnet.

We put on our skins and knives to climb up the steep moraine to leave the glacier, then the terrain becomes gentler until below the col. We leave our skis behind and put crampons on our boots to gravel the last few metres to the col. After abseiling down, we set foot on the Saleina glacier on the opposite side.

We cross the glacier on the side to reach the Saleina window, then the vast, open Trient plateau. Another short climb and the Mountain hut is in sight!

DAY 3 / 3
D-
2000m
D+
500m

This final day offers several possible itineraries, to be adapted according to snow conditions and the shape of the group. In any case, we'll start by climbing back up to the Col du Tour, to return to the French side.

From the col, there's a long descent of almost 2,000m down the Tour glacier: wide, gentle slopes at the start, often untracked. Further down, the slope becomes steeper and the route more complex. We take our time and descend carefully.

At the bottom, we return to the valley and enjoy a well-earned hot drink!

Coming from the flat country of Belgium and being a mountain guide sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but here I am, Olivier , 33 years old. Very enthusiastic about the idea of getting off the beaten track, it's with boundless enthusiasm that I'll be guiding you through the magical world of the high mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of the valleys. It's with the same enthusiasm that I'll be sharing the conviviality of the post-race moments over a good beer... Belgian!

→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
