Snowshoeing

We're meeting at 10.30am in the Bauges massif, at the car park where we'll be starting our first hike. It's a good opportunity to get to know the group and our guide.
After a short briefing on equipment and safety instructions, we put on our snowshoes for a beautiful loop in the direction of Le Mollard. The route takes us through snow-covered forests and high mountain pastures, passing close to a protected natural area. Our guide will take the opportunity to share the secrets of this unspoilt environment and its winter wildlife.
At the summit, panoramic views of the Bauges reward us for our efforts, before a gentle descent back to the starting point.
We then head back to our comfortable gîte, where we settle in for the next two nights. At the end of the day, it's time to relax: mulled wine for the connoisseurs and a Savoyard dinner around a convivial table.
After a hearty breakfast, we hit the road (about 20 minutes) to reach the start of our hike for the day. We set off in the direction of the Nivolet Cross offering a spectacular view of the massif.
The route begins in the forest, where we learn to spot the tracks left by wildlife: chamois, foxes, even lynx for the lucky ones! Gradually, the trees give way to open mountain pastures, revealing a breathtaking panorama of the Bauges.
We take a break near the chalets for a mountain picnic and to discover the natural and cultural riches of this unspoilt massif: Regional Nature Park, pastoral heritage, and local specialities such as Tome des Bauges.
On the way back down, it's time for a hot chocolate break before heading back to our gîte. The evening comes to a close with a gourmet meal in a warm atmosphere.
For this final day, we have several options, depending on the weather and the mood of the group. Perhaps we'll go and admire the breathtaking view from the pointe de la Galoppaz, or maybe we'll prefer a walk in the forest, in a hushed and quiet atmosphere.
Whatever the case, this final immersion in the snow-covered nature of the Bauges will be a fine way to round off our adventure.
NB: Walking times are given as a guide and may vary according to conditions and the pace of the group.
After two long trips that made me fall in love with the mountains, I decided to settle in the Alps. I chose Chambéry, an ideal location between the Bauges, Chartreuse and Belledonne massifs. Since 2024, I've been devoting myself fully to my job as a mountain leader, a career change that allows me to combine exploration, environmental awareness, a taste for challenge and training, all in the heart of the mountains, a fascinating and constantly evolving environment.
It is possible to travel by train to the Massif des Bauges.
You can also drive to the Massif des Bauges and leave your car in a free car park.
If you don't have a car, you should know that we encourage car-pooling between participants by creating a whatsapp group 10 days before departure: an opportunity to get to know each other before you even start your expedition!

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
