Ready for alpine wildlife watching in the best conditions. We sleep in welcoming mountain refuges so we can set out at sunrise and linger at dusk in quiet high valleys when the peaks fall silent again. With a guide who knows the hot spots and how to approach animals respectfully, you travel light and focus on moments with marmots, chamois and ibex.
The line up spans five regions and all levels. Beginner hikers can choose a three day Vanoise escape around the Refuge de la Femma, a September window among high lakes and a lively marmot colony. At intermediate level, spend four days in the Hautes Pyrénées between Ilhéou, Marcadau and Gaube where chamois are often seen, or cross the Emparis plateau in the Écrins for four days of turquoise lakes and big views facing the glaciers of La Meije. After a sharper alpine rhythm, the Queyras offers a three day tour of the Font Sancte with high passes and mirror blue lakes, while in Switzerland the Tour des Dents du Midi delivers five days, 65 kilometres and 5000 metres of ascent through wild ridgelines and pastures.
These are small group guided hiking trips designed to help you unplug, with warm huts, naturalist insights and simple photo tips. From June to September depending on the range, and in the Vanoise during a dedicated September slot, you enjoy alpine wildlife watching close to the terrain, with safety and care for the environment at the core.
