Activity time

We meet at 10am in Pont in the Valsavarenche valley: meeting and briefing with Olivier, our mountain guide. After a brief introduction, we'll set off from the hamlet of Pont to reach the Vittorio Emmanuel hut (2734m).

After lunch at the hut, we'll take the time to learn everything we need to know from our guide: how to use an ice axe, all about cramponing, roping up and how to progress safely on a glacier.

After the effort, the comfort: we enjoy a sunset from the refuge overlooking 3 emblematic peaks: Piccolo Paradiso (3868m), Herbetet (3778m) and Tresenta (3609m), the next day's objective.

DAY 2 / 3
Accommodation
Mountain hut

Activity time
6h

On this second day, we set off for a first ascent to the summit of La Tresenta (3609m): an opportunity to enjoy an acclimatisation run and put into practice what we'd learned the day before.

Once we've reached the summit, we descend to the Vittorio Emmanuel hut in the middle of the afternoon along a route where the ibex are known to be the largest inhabitants of the Gran Paradiso National Park.

Evening and meal at the hut: a chance to regain our strength with tasty Italian cuisine.

DAY 3 / 3
D+
1355m
Activity time
6h

We wake up at dawn to begin this magnificent ascent: armed with our headlamps, we begin the ascent of our first 4000-metre summit, Grand Paradis, via its normal route.

The further we progress, the more the sun rises, gradually revealing the grandiose landscape offered by Grand Paradis.

Once we reach the summit, perched at 4061 m, we'll be able to enjoy an exceptional panorama: from Mont Rose to the Matterhorn, from Mont Blanc to the Ecrins, all the way to Mont Viso. We'll return to the valley in the early/mid afternoon.

Coming from the flat country of Belgium and being a mountain guide sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but here I am, Olivier , 33 years old. Very enthusiastic about the idea of getting off the beaten track, it's with boundless enthusiasm that I'll be guiding you through the magical world of the high mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of the valleys. It's with the same enthusiasm that I'll be sharing the conviviality of the post-race moments over a good beer... Belgian!

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
