Deer Rutting & Packrafting on the Amblève

September to October
2 days| 1 night
Level 2
Eco-score 5/5

What you will experience

Combine packraft and stag bellowing for a wild immersion: paddle on the peaceful waters of the Amblève, then listen to the majestic roar of the stag in the middle of the forest. If you're looking to escape the city and blend in with nature, this is the adventure for you!
As night falls, set off with your headlamp to watch for the bellowing. Your guide, Pierre, will teach you how to observe wildlife discreetly.
Listen to the deer bellowing in the night from your private bivouac tent. The crackling of the fire and the roasted marshmallows will make this moment even more magical.

Itinerary

DAY 1 / 2
Night
Bivouac
Distance
8km walk | 6km packraft

We meet at 10 a.m. at the bivouac site in Stoumont: meeting and briefing by the guide.

After a short introduction, we set off on our first hike, where the beauty of autumn is omnipresent.

We'll walk 7km through the heart of the Amblève valley to our pick-up point.

After a well-deserved picnic break, we board our packrafts for a 6km descent along the Amblève: an opportunity to discover the grandeur of this valley while letting ourselves be carried along by the current.

Arriving at the disembarkation point at around 3pm, we walk a further 1km to our private bivouac area, a little corner of paradise in the heart of nature.

In the evening, we'll enjoy a local meal and set off after dark to listen to the stag bellow: a magical moment when nature reveals one of its most impressive spectacles.

DAY 2 / 2
Distance
8km walk | 8km packraft

After a good night's sleep, lulled by the melodious sound of the bellowing, we set off on a short 1 km hike to our starting point for the packraft descent.

This time, we'll head downstream for between 6 and 8 km, depending on the water conditions. If the water level is optimal, we can extend our descent over the last 1,000 metres of the Lienne.

We'll then hike 7 km back to our starting point, collecting our cars. We'll enjoy the scenery and the sounds of the stag's bellow one last time before saying goodbye after this unforgettable adventure.

End of the weekend at 4pm.

Is this expedition accessible to children?

Yes, children accompanied by an adult are welcome at the weekend.

Will there be showers and toilets?

No, you'll be sleeping in a bivouac in the middle of nowhere. During the two days of the expedition, you'll be cut off from the world, as close as possible to the wilderness. Isn't that what real adventure is all about?

What is included in the price of a DiscoveRent shipment?

At Wildhartt, we attach particular importance to price transparency for our shipments. Our approach is based on a clear breakdown of costs, aimed at providing a better understanding of the elements included in the total amount. Here's how we allocate the percentages:

  • 30% for our guides: We believe that our experienced guides play a crucial role in the success of each activity. That's why we make sure we allocate a significant proportion to pay for their expertise and supervision.
  • 35% for accommodation and food: We consider comfortable accommodation and quality food to be essential elements of an enriching experience.
  • 10% for equipment and transport: The safety and comfort of our participants is paramount. With this part of the total amount, we can guarantee that the equipment required is in excellent condition and adequate for each activity. Transport costs also come into play when they are essential during an expedition.
  • 25% for expedition participation and running costs: These costs cover the logistical, administrative and organisational aspects of the expedition, as well as the overall management of the experience, from start to finish.

Our aim is to provide you with a trustworthy, high-quality experience, while being transparent about how the final cost of your shipment is shared. If you have any further questions about our prices, please contact us here.
