Activity time
6h

We meet at 9am in front of the ski lifts in Staffal. There we'll meet Edy, our guide for the next few days: he'll introduce us and check everyone's equipment.

We'll then take the ski lifts to reach the Indren station at an altitude of 3,266 metres. This is where we'll learn everything we'll need to know for the next few days: glacier walking techniques, cramponing, roping up and so on.

We'll also learn simple hauling techniques for crevasse rescue.

Afterwards, we'll take the lifts in the opposite direction to reach the Gabiet Refuge at an altitude of 2,375 metres. We'll enjoy dinner and an evening in the atmosphere of an Italian high mountain refuge. Before bedtime, Edy will give us a briefing for the day ahead.

Activity time

Departure from the refuge is scheduled for around 9.30 am, and we'll take the same ski lifts as the day before to reach the Indren refuge at an altitude of 3,266 metres.

From here, we'll begin our alpine ascent through glaciers, rock and scree. We'll have the opportunity to put into practice all the techniques we learned the day before, in a varied high mountain environment.

We'll also tackle the rocky section via a fixed-rope via ferrata.

Arrival at the Mantova hut is scheduled for early afternoon. After lunch, we'll use the rest of the day to rest and prepare for the next day.

After dinner, Edy will give us a briefing to explain the next day's programme.

We wake up at first light to prepare for a departure around 4.30am. Equipped with our headlamps, we begin our ascent by climbing the Glacier du Lys to the col of the same name, at an altitude of 4,200 metres. We reach the summit at sunrise, offering a breathtaking spectacle.

After a short break to admire the view and the first rays of sunshine, we resume our journey towards the Cabane Margherita, perched on the Gnifetti peak at 4554 metres. We'll reach the hut at around 9am and have a bite to eat in the refuge.

We'll then start the descent along the same route as the outward journey. Depending on the level of fatigue, the preferences of the group and the weather conditions, we might consider adding an extra summit of over 4,000 metres.

Back at the Mantova hut at around 1pm, we'll have lunch before freeing up the afternoon. In the evening, Edy will give us his usual briefing for the day ahead.

DAY 4 / 4

Activity time

After an early start and breakfast at first light, we begin our ascent from the refuge at around 5.30am. Depending on the weather and mountain conditions, we'll have a choice of two peaks over 4,000 metres: Pointe Giordani or Pyramide Vincent.

Once we've reached one of these summits, we'll head back down towards Indren, where we'll share a final meal together. We'll then take the ski lifts back to Staffal, where it will be time to say goodbye.

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
