Itinerary

DAY 1 / 5
Activity time
1h30 trek | 2h30 packraft
Hosting
Bivouac
Distance
5km walk | 9km packraft

We meet at 10am in Castellane: briefing and meeting with the guide and all the participants. After a warm welcome in Castellane, we head for Lac de Castillon. This first day is a gentle mix of hiking and packraft sailing, perfect for getting to grips with your expedition boat.

In the evening, we stop off in the charming village of Saint-Julien-du-Verdon, on the shores of the lake. It's a peaceful first day exploring this unique region.

DAY 2 / 5
Night
Bungalow
Activity time
3-hour hike - 1? hours packraft
Distance
8km on foot - 5km by packraft

Today we start with a hike with our packraft in the rucksack that takes us to the ridges overlooking Lac de Castillon, where the views are breathtaking. After a two-hour walk, we reach a ruined village, a place steeped in history and perfect for a lunch break.

In the afternoon, we continue our walk towards Lac de Chaudanne. Here, we inflate our packrafts and glide across its peaceful waters. Swimming, jumping off the rocks for the more daring, and moments of relaxation are all on the programme.

Once the crossing is complete, we return to Castellane for a convivial evening and a night in comfortable bungalows.

DAY 3 / 5
Night
Refuge
Activity time
3 hours of packraft

On this third day, we propose a morning at leisure to explore Castellane, its lively streets and cafés, or climb up to the Roc chapel, with its breathtaking views over the valley.

In the afternoon, we'll explore the Gorges du Verdon from the water. If the dam is open, we'll descend by packraft from Castellane to the entrance to the canyon. If not, we'll set off on a water hike in the Samson couloir section.

After this adventure, we return to the Chalet de la Maline, a refuge nestling in the heart of the gorge, where we will spend the next two nights. In the evening, we take advantage of the chalet's welcoming terrace, one of the Verdon's warmest spots, to soak up the atmosphere.

DAY 4 / 5
Night
Refuge
Activity time
4h packraft - 2h hike
Distance
12km packraft - 5km walk

After enjoying a hearty breakfast on the refuge terrace, we set off around 9am to explore the first isolated section of the canyon. A hike takes us to the water's edge, where we inflate our packrafts for an unforgettable descent. Between exciting rapids and calm sections, vertiginous landscapes of 700 m cliffs surround us.

A lunch break on a deserted beach will allow you to savour this unique setting. After completing the descent, a hike takes us back to the refuge for a warm evening in the heart of the canyon.

DAY 5 / 5
Activity time
3h packraft - 1h hike
Distance
12km packraft - 3km walk

On this final day, we walk to the bottom of the canyon along a short path before launching our packrafts one last time. Between small rapids and quiet sections, the descent takes us down to Lac de Sainte-Croix. The tranquillity of the area contrasts with the majestic cliffs that still loom around us.

We end our adventure with a visit to the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, a nugget of Provence, before returning to Castellane in the late afternoon.

What is included in the price of a DiscoveRent shipment?

At Wildhartt, we attach particular importance to price transparency for our shipments. Our approach is based on a clear breakdown of costs, aimed at providing a better understanding of the elements included in the total amount. Here's how we allocate the percentages:

  • 30% for our guides: We believe that our experienced guides play a crucial role in the success of each activity. That's why we make sure we allocate a significant proportion to pay for their expertise and supervision.
  • 35% for accommodation and food: We consider comfortable accommodation and quality food to be essential elements of an enriching experience.
  • 10% for equipment and transport: The safety and comfort of our participants is paramount. With this part of the total amount, we can guarantee that the equipment required is in excellent condition and adequate for each activity. Transport costs also come into play when they are essential during an expedition.
  • 25% for expedition participation and running costs: These costs cover the logistical, administrative and organisational aspects of the expedition, as well as the overall management of the experience, from start to finish.

Our aim is to provide you with a trustworthy, high-quality experience, while being transparent about how the final cost of your shipment is shared. If you have any further questions about our prices, please contact us here.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed on the dates of your choice. To make a privatisation request, go to the expedition of your choice and privatise it using the button under the "see departures" button.

⛈ What happens if the metreo is wrong?

Our commitment to this unique experience means that our departures are maintained regardless of weather conditions, be it rain, snow, wind or storm. We are flexible and ready to adjust the itinerary, activities or accommodation to suit the circumstances.

The safety of our participants is our absolute priority. In exceptional and unavoidable cases where safety cannot be guaranteed, the Wildhartt team reserves the right to cancel a departure. However, this decision will only be taken in the run-up to the holiday, i.e. less than a week before the planned departure.
