What you will experience

Explore La Ponsonnière in winter wonderland style, on a looping route through ridges, valleys and glacial lakes hidden beneath the snow, depending on conditions.
Start 2027 away from the tarmac: breakfast with the peaks in view, the cold air on your cheeks, and one last descent into the valley.
A different kind of midnight: no crowded nightclubs, no hunting for a taxi, just a secluded Mountain hut, a friendly group and the silence of the surrounding mountains.

    We’ll meet up at the Pont de l’Alpe late in the morning. After a brief briefing on the route, the distribution of equipment and safety instructions, we’ll check everyone’s individual gear before setting off.

    The ascent follows an alpine path, winding through valleys, meadows and open countryside. We keep the pace suited to the group so we can enjoy this first day at a leisurely pace.

    We reach an old mountain hamlet for our picnic, with a beautiful view over the surrounding area. In the afternoon, the path gradually gains altitude before descending into the valley, where the Mountain hut comes into view at the last moment.

    We settle into the Mountain hut, take some time to rest and enjoy an evening in the mountains, quietly preparing for the next stage of the adventure.

What's included in the price

Included

Guide guiding: You will be accompanied by Lisa, our mountain guide, who knows the region like the back of her hand.
Accommodation: You will spend two nights in warm, comfortable mountain accommodation (dormitory).
Meals: All meals are included, from dinner on D1 to a picnic on D3 (homemade breakfasts, picnics and friendly dinners, either in the wild or in the Mountain hut).
Loan of equipment: your guide will provide you with snowshoeing equipment (poles and snowshoes).

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This adventure is designed for regular hikers who are comfortable on mountain trails and ready to walk for several days in winter conditions. You must be able to cope with snow, cold and wind, without needing any specific technical skills.

You’re at the right level if:

  • You can walk for 4 to 6 hours a day in the mountains
  • You are capable of walking for several consecutive days at a steady pace
  • You can cover between 400 and 800 metres of ascent per day
  • You feel at ease on mountain trails, even when they are snow-covered
  • You do not need any specific technical skills to take part
  • You can carry a light rucksack with your personal belongings
  • You are prepared to spend 2 nights in a Mountain hut

From your departure station, you can reach the Écrins via Briançon:

You’ll arrive at Pont de l’Alpe, at the gateway to the Écrins National Park and the Guisane Valley.

Your guide will meet you there or direct you to the exact meeting point.

You can go directly to the Pont de l'Alpe, located between Le Monêtier-les-Bains and the Col du Lautaret, in the heart of the Écrins massif.


Parking is available right next to the start of the expedition.


Don't forget to carpool: a WhatsApp group has been set up 7 to 10 days before departure to help you make arrangements with other participants.

Organisation au top de plus la météo était au rendez-vous. Allez y les yeux fermés !

Is there electricity or sockets in the Mountain huts for recharging phones?

Yes, the Mountain hut on this expedition has electricity. However, it is advisable to bring an external battery, as sockets are often limited and shared between participants.

Is there somewhere I can leave things if I don't want to take everything with me?

On the second day, you can leave the things you don't need for the day at the Mountain hut, a great way to make the most of a great day's snowshoeing.

What happens if there isn't enough snow to use snowshoes?

The holiday will continue. In the absence of snow, the itineraries will be adapted and carried out on foot with the same discovery objectives. The programme remains just as rich in naturalistic observation and immersion. The guide adjusts the routes to ensure a quality experience whatever the conditions.

What clothes should I take with me?

A full list is provided, but in summary, you need to pack: Warm, breathable layers (fleece, down jacket, thermal underwear), a windproof, waterproof jacket, warm, waterproof trousers, waterproof hiking boots, gloves, hat, neck warmer and two pairs of warm socks, comfortable clothing for the Mountain hut (slippers, dry clothes). This expedition takes place in winter: it's essential to be able to layer up and stay dry and warm. Everything has been thought out for your comfort and safety.

How comfortable are the Mountain huts?

The comfort is simple but warm. The Mountain huts are heated, have sanitary facilities (toilets, hot showers) and offer quality hot meals. They are not hotels, but authentic places where you sleep in dormitories, share meals and enjoy a collective experience in an unspoilt mountain setting.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).


In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
