What you will experience

Climb Le Noirmont through a nature reserve where chamois and capercaillie leave their tracks in the fresh snow.
Reach Mont Sâla at an altitude of 1511 m for a 360° panorama of the Jura ridges and the Alps in the distance.
Spend a trapper's night in a rustic Mountain hut, then enjoy the contrast with a comfortable hotel and sauna.
Hike to the foot of Mont Tendre, the highest peak in the Swiss Jura (1679 m), between immaculate meadows and winter silence.

    Meet at 9am in the centre of Bois d'Amont (France), where you can park your vehicle.


    As soon as we leave the village, we'll start our ascent of Le Noirmont, in the heart of a nature reserve populated by the Jura's most emblematic animals. Your guide will show you their particular characteristics and traces of their presence.


    Weather permitting, we'll climb up to Mont Sâla (1511 m) to enjoy a clear view of the surrounding mountains.


    We'll finish the day with a descent to the warm and rustic Mountain hut at Les Pralets, ideal for a first night in the great outdoors.

Guiding: During these 3 days, you will be accompanied by Damien, an experienced guide who will share his passion for the region with you.
Accommodation: You will sleep one night in a dormitory in a mountain hut and one night in a comfortable, authentic hotel.
Meals: All meals from dinner on the first day to the picnic on the last day are included.
Loan of equipment: Your guide will provide you with snowshoeing equipment (poles and snowshoes).
Local transport: The taxi fare on the last day is included.

What level should you expect

Level 2
You should be at least 18 years old to participate

  • You are able to walk up to 6 hours a day, over 10 to 12 km with around 500 m of Ascent.

  • You can carry your own rucksack with all your gear for the expedition (complete autonomy).

  • You do not need any previous technical experience: the trails are varied but accessible (forest tracks, snow-covered meadows and a few steeper sections with no technical difficulty).

  • You can sleep in comfortable hotels with hot meals and saunas, or in rustic mountain huts for a taste of authenticity.

  • The pace is adapted to the group, with breaks to observe the wildlife and enjoy the scenery, and options are available for the more motivated, such as extra climbs or a night outing.

Très beau séjour de 3 jours en Raquettes à neige dans le Jura Suisse, avec un guide très intéressant et proche de la nature, le logement en gîte de montagne et ensuite en hôtel plus confortable nous a beaucoup plus, et la découverte d'un sport en immersion totale est extra. Organisation au top de plus la météo était au rendez-vous. Allez y les yeux fermés !

Is it accessible to snowshoeing beginners?

Yes, as long as you can walk up and down for several hours a day. The guide will teach you the basic techniques.

What happens if there's little snow?

The itinerary can be adapted to include hiking alternatives or other snowier sectors. The safety and experience of the participants are paramount.

Can I come on my own?

Of course you can! A lot of participants come solo, so it's the perfect opportunity to meet other nature lovers.

Are there any evening activities?

Yes, depending on the weather: a fire in the snow, a night-time snowshoe walk, sharing stories over a mountain meal.

How comfortable is the accommodation?

This package includes both a night in a typical Jura mountain hut, with a friendly atmosphere around the stove where you will sleep in a dormitory, and a night in a comfortable hotel in the heart of nature, with a sauna to relax in after the walk.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).


In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
