Itinerary

    • Accommodation - Sailing boatAccommodation·Sailing boat
    • On the programme - Snowshoe hike to the SteinetindenOn the programme·Snowshoe hike to the Steinetinden

We’ll meet in Stamsund at 9.30 am: the group will gather and board the cable car. After an initial safety briefing, we’ll put on our snowshoes and set off towards the plateau above Stamsund, making our way across compact snow and moderate slopes to the summit, where we’ll take some time to admire the village and the deep waters of the Skifjorden all around us.

We head back down to the sailing boat for a hot meal prepared on board, then enjoy a stroll along the water’s edge after dark in the hope of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights. The day ends at the harbour, with a peaceful night and the gentle sound of the waves lapping against the hull.

What level should you expect

Level 2
You should be at least 18 years old to participate
WHO IS IT FOR?
You want to discover the Lofoten Islands in winter differently, combining sailing, snowshoeing and a real taste of Arctic life.

You're at the right level if:
  • You're comfortable with simple living conditions (tight space, damp, an irregular rhythm)
  • You're comfortable with seasickness or able to manage it
  • No sailing experience is required
  • You've already done some mountain hiking
  • You can walk 5 to 10km a day with an average of 500m of positive elevation gain
  • You can get on and move around the boat without help
  • You're comfortable climbing a small ladder (mooring at a quay), stepping up onto a ledge around 50cm high (boarding from the side of the boat), and moving across a cluttered, potentially slippery, moving surface (the deck)

Frequently asked questions

How comfortable are the cabins?

The yacht is a 14.9-metre Bavaria sailing yacht with five double cabins. Four cabins are for passengers and one is for the crew. The cabins are furnished with either double beds or bunk beds. However, space in each cabin is limited, and we do not recommend this trip for people who suffer from claustrophobia.

How comfortable is the sailing boat? Are there toilet facilities?

There are three bathrooms, each with a shower, toilet and washbasin, so it will be possible to have a hot shower every day. On some days, water will be in short supply if we're not in a harbour, so it'll be more of a quick wash. Conversely, when we're in harbour, it'll be perfectly possible to have a longer shower.

Will there be electricity on board?

Yes, there is one 220V socket per cabin and two USB-A sockets (at each headboard).

What happens if the weather doesn't allow snowshoeing or sailing?

The programme is deliberately flexible: we sail whenever sea conditions allow, and switch to minibus transfers otherwise, so you can keep enjoying the programme safely whatever the weather does.

I get seasick easily, will that be a problem?

The boat often sails in sheltered waters between the fjords and spends several nights in harbour, which limits seasickness, but you may still feel it during the longer crossings: bring suitable medication if you're prone to it, it's a normal precaution for this kind of trip.

How does the €400 onboard kitty work?

It covers meals, port fees and diesel for the whole week, paid on site and managed collectively with the crew: it's the standard set-up for a shared sailing trip.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, transparency is essential. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:

  • 30% for our guides, the mainstays of every adventure.
  • 35% for accommodation and meals, essential for your comfort.
  • 10% for equipment and transport, to guarantee safety and fluidity.
  • 25% for organisation and logistics, from first contact to the end of the expedition.
  • 1% for the rewilding of Europe, a concrete commitment to give back to nature what it gives us.

Our priority: to offer you a quality experience, with complete clarity.
