What you will experience

Snowshoe your way through Pyhä National Park, along 10 km of snow dotted with candelabra-shaped fir trees frozen in the snow.
Drive your own team of huskies along forest tracks, to the sound of eager dogs and skates gliding across the snow.
Snowshoe to the Lampivaara amethyst mine and share a hot coffee with Finnish biscuits.
Try your hand at Altai skiing, the traditional short skis of Lapland, and glide through the snowy pines.
Reach the summit of Ukko-Luoston maisematupa (514 m), a viewpoint offering panoramic views of the hills and icy forests of the region.
Watch the Northern Lights from the chalet's terrace before diving into the warmth of the sauna.

    Welcome to Finnish Lapland!


    We meet at 4pm at Rovaniemi airport. Once the group is assembled, we'll head north for about 1 hour 45 minutes through the great Lapland forests to the chalet that will serve as our base for the week.


    Everyone settles into their own space, then we share a convivial moment to get to know each other and present the forthcoming programme.

What's included in the price

Included

Guiding: Throughout your stay, you will be guided by an experienced polar guide and photographer who will be delighted to share her passion for Finnish Lapland with you.
Accommodation: You'll be staying in a warm, comfortable chalet typical of the region, ideal for relaxing after a day in the great outdoors and enjoying the Finnish sauna.
Meals: From dinner on day 1 to breakfast on day 8, all meals are included and prepared together using local specialities.
Loan of technical equipment: Altai skis, snowshoes and poles. You don't have to plan anything, just put on your boots and enjoy the outings!
Local transfers: Travel by van to the starting points of the activities is included.
The dog sledding discovery activity with a walk in the forest and driving your dog team.
The "extreme cold" pack (parka, mittens, "extreme cold" boots) is included for each participant.

Not included

Transport to and from the meeting point.
Any personal expenses (restaurant meals, drinks, etc.)
Anything not included in the "what's included in the price" section.

What level should you expect

Level 1
You should be at least 18 years old to participate
  • You are able to walk an average of 4 hours a day, over distances of 10 km, with only a slight Ascent (max 200 m ascent).
  • You can move around on snow-covered but accessible terrain, without any particular technical difficulty.
  • You can carry your gear for the day (the rest stays at the chalet).
  • You are comfortable sleeping in a shared room.
  • No previous experience is required: the activities are varied (snowshoeing, dog sledding, Altai skiing) and designed as introductions, allowing you to learn on the spot and enjoy the experience at your own pace.

  • If the minimum number of participants is reached, departure is confirmed!
  • If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we will give you a full refund.
Departure is confirmed 15 days in advance for adventures lasting more than 4 days. Departure is confirmed 7 days prior for adventures lasting less than 4 days.

Frequently asked questions

How comfortable is the accommodation?

You'll sleep in a cosy, traditional chalet with comfortable bedrooms, friendly communal areas and a Finnish sauna. It's a cosy base camp after every day outdoors.

Will we have to carry a rucksack on our daily walks?

As we'll be sleeping in the same place every night, you'll simply need to bring a small rucksack to carry everything you'll need for the day or half-day's hike (water bottle, energy bars, picnic, etc.).

Will we get to see the Northern Lights?

Yes, the region is ideal for observing them. There are several evenings to watch the skies, but whether or not they appear depends on the weather conditions.

What about meals on site?

All meals are prepared together in a friendly, collective approach, with everyone pitching in. When you arrive, your guide will already have done most of the shopping for the week. It will be possible to do additional shopping for fresh produce in local shops.

Do I need any previous experience to take part?

No, no experience is necessary. The activities (snowshoeing, dog sledding, Altai skiing) are designed as introductions, accessible to all, with the accompaniment of your guide.

What equipment should I bring?

We provide snowshoes, poles and Altai skis. All you need to bring is warm clothing suitable for the cold, hiking boots and your personal belongings. A detailed list will be sent to you before you leave.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).


In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:

→ Or receive a full refund.


What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.


Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.


They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.


If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
