We meet up at 9.30 am with Patrick, our mountain guide, to get to know each other and check our kit. Thanks to the van we’ve hired for the week, we can easily reach the crags around Finale Ligure.

This first day is spent assessing everyone’s ability and getting back into the swing of things on the Ligurian limestone. Patrick offers personalised advice on footwork, route reading and technique to lay the foundations for the week.

At the end of the day, we pop out to do some shopping and head back to our peaceful home in the Ligurian hinterland to share our first dinner together.

Frequently asked questions

I climb indoors, but I’ve never done a multi-pitch route. Is this trip right for me?

Yes. This course is specifically designed for climbers who want to make the transition from the gym or sport climbing to multi-pitch routes. The guide adapts the pace to suit the group’s ability and takes the time to explain each technique. The aim is for you to leave with a solid foundation and greater confidence on this type of terrain.

What level of climbing experience do you need?

It is recommended that you are able to lead climb routes of around 5b, either indoors or on the crag, with some ease. The most important thing is not to be a strong climber, but to be able to complete several pitches in a day and to be keen to learn.

Will I learn rope techniques?

Yes. The course is primarily educational. In particular, you’ll learn how to manage belays, act as a second, communicate whilst climbing, abseil, organise a rope team and climb multi-pitch routes efficiently. All these skills are taught step by step in the field.

Will I be in the lead?

It will depend on your ability, experience and preferences. The guide tailors the exercises to each participant. If you’d like to improve your lead climbing on multi-pitch routes, they’ll guide you step by step to help you become more independent, whilst always ensuring your safety.

What equipment is provided?

All the specialist equipment required for multi-pitch climbing is provided: helmet, harness, ropes and shared equipment. All you need to bring are your climbing shoes, suitable clothing and your usual personal kit. A full list will be sent to you before departure.

How comfortable is the accommodation?

Throughout the trip, you’ll be staying in a stone house typical of the Ligurian hinterland, nestled in a small, quiet village just a few minutes’ walk from the main climbing areas. Rooms are shared to maintain the friendly atmosphere of the trip, whilst the communal areas, terrace and garden provide the perfect setting to unwind after a day on the crags. The accommodation quickly becomes our base camp: we prepare the next day’s picnics there, share meals, debrief on the day’s multi-pitch routes and enjoy the balmy Italian evenings. A simple, welcoming place, perfectly suited to a week of climbing.

How do mealtimes go?

Meals are deliberately not included so that you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of Finale Ligure. At the start of your stay, you’ll go shopping with the guide to prepare breakfasts and picnics for the week, in a friendly atmosphere. In the evening, you have two options: cook together at the accommodation after a day’s climbing, or head out to discover the excellent trattorias and pizzerias in Finale Ligure. The programme remains flexible and the group decides as the week goes on, depending on what takes their fancy at the time.

Will I make progress, even if the other participants are at a different level?

Yes. The groups are deliberately kept small, which allows the guide to offer personalised advice. Everyone progresses at their own pace, with exercises tailored to their goals and experience.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, transparency is essential. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:

  • 30% for our guides, the mainstays of every adventure.
  • 35% for accommodation and meals, essential for your comfort.
  • 10% for equipment and transport, to guarantee safety and fluidity.
  • 25% for organisation and logistics, from first contact to the end of the expedition.
  • 1% for the rewilding of Europe, a concrete commitment to give back to nature what it gives us.

Our priority: to offer you a quality experience, with complete clarity.
