    • D- - 400D-·400m
    • D+ - 400D+·400m

We’ll meet at 9am at the Quartier Libre hostel for an initial briefing: an overview of the three-day programme and a chance to pack our rucksacks before setting off on the trails.

At 10.00 am, we’ll set off on our first loop through the forest around the hotel.
The aim: to get to grips with the Vercors terrain whilst working on the technical fundamentals of trail running through various workshops: foot placement, stride, running economy and reading the terrain. All this will be done through practical exercises and personalised advice.

In the late afternoon, we’ll return to the hotel to settle in and share our first meal together. The evening will be a chance to reflect on this first day, discuss everyone’s expectations and adjust our goals for the rest of the trip.

As a mountain leader and ecologist by training, I see the mountains as a real adventure.
A keen trail runner, I like to follow the ridges, connect the valleys and feel the freedom of movement at altitude. Bivouacking is at the heart of what I do: sleeping outdoors, living to the rhythm of the elements, prolonging the immersion. Every outing becomes a human adventure, a space for learning and shared wonder.

  • You can run or walk for 3 to 5 hours over varied terrain
  • You can cover between 12 and 20 km in a day
  • You can manage between 500 and 800 metres of ascent
  • You feel comfortable on relatively straightforward trails (paths, mountain pastures, narrow tracks)
  • You don’t necessarily have any experience of mountain trail running (and that’s fine)

Patrick C.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need trail running poles?

It’s best to have some; we’ll learn how to use them on our various outings.

Do I need to carry my things with me on trail runs?

No, just your trail running kit for the day. The rest of your things stay at the hostel.

Is it possible to stay in a private room?

Yes, it is certainly possible to stay in a private room. During the next stage of your booking, you’ll be able to choose between a room for yourself or a bed in a dormitory. Simply select the option that suits you best when you make your booking. If you’d like to book a private room for two people, simply contact us directly so that we can arrange this for you.

Do I need to have done any trail running before?

Not at all. The aim of this course is to introduce participants to trail running. It is therefore aimed at anyone wishing to try this activity for the first time, or those who have done a bit of it but are not seasoned trail runners.

How comfortable are the accommodation options available during the expedition?

Both nights are spent in a cosy inn, perched on the Col de la Machine. This inn offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with delicious meals prepared on the premises and well-maintained rooms for a restful night’s sleep.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful break — some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, transparency is essential. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:

  • 30% for our guides, the mainstays of every adventure.
  • 35% for accommodation and meals, essential for your comfort.
  • 10% for equipment and transport, to guarantee safety and fluidity.
  • 24% for organisation and logistics, from first contact to the end of the expedition.
  • 1% for the rewilding of Europe, a concrete commitment to give back to nature what it gives us.

Our priority: to offer you a quality experience, with complete clarity.
