What you will experience

Take the Grenoble-Gap line to Lus-la-Croix-Haute and walk along the north/south Alps climatic border.
Reach the Col Navite at 1,400 m and descend through the Gorges de Toussière.
Cross the secret valley of La Jarjatte for 10 km, facing the Dévoluy wall.
Make the most of this trip to improve your pacing and your climbing technique.

Itinerary

  1. DAY1/ 3
    • D- - 540D-·540m
    • D+ - 540D+·540m
    • Distance - 12Distance·12km

Meet at 2 pm in Lus-la-Croix-Haute (a village in the Drôme, on the Grenoble–Gap line) to drop off our things at the accommodation before setting off on a trail run around Mont Sarrier and exploring the Trièves countryside.

We’ll get our bearings on sections of trail alternating between gentle ascents and descents over the first 5 kilometres. After that, the climb becomes steeper as we head towards the Col Navtite (1,400m), alternating between forest tracks and narrower paths with no technical difficulties.

The aim of this first outing is to warm up and establish a group rhythm: managing effort on the ascents, techniques for regaining speed and maintaining balance on the descents, and reading the terrain.

The descent passes through the Toussière Gorges and loops back to the village of Lus, with views of the Trièves ridges dotting the route.

Late afternoon back at the accommodation (guest rooms and bed and breakfast) for some relaxation and a brief group debriefing to prepare for the rest of the course.

Frequently asked questions

What learning will be highlighted?

We'll be focusing on the following skills: downhill running techniques, body positioning, uphill progression techniques, optimal use of poles, foot positioning on stony trails, and proper trail food management. If there's anything else you'd like to learn, please let us know. Our guide, François-Xavier, will be happy to adapt to your needs.

What equipment should I take with me?

In terms of equipment, you'll need to take the following with you: A rucksack for a day or half-day outing. Hiking poles (available for hire) Water bottle or 2-litre water bag Waterproof windbreaker (if possible) Warm technical running clothes Running trainers Buff Gloves and hat

What's the difference between trail running and sport hiking?

When we set off on a trail run, we run (when we can). Sport hiking is similar to classic hiking, but at a faster pace (without running), with both uphill and downhill sections.

Do I need to have done any trail running or hiking before?

The aim of this expedition is to discover the sport of trail running and hiking. It is therefore aimed at anyone who wants to try these sports for the first time, or at people who have already done them but who are not seasoned trail runners.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful break — some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, transparency is essential. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:

  • 30% for our guides, the mainstays of every adventure.
  • 35% for accommodation and meals, essential for your comfort.
  • 10% for equipment and transport, to guarantee safety and fluidity.
  • 24% for organisation and logistics, from first contact to the end of the expedition.
  • 1% for the rewilding of Europe, a concrete commitment to give back to nature what it gives us.

Our priority: to offer you a quality experience, with complete clarity.
