We meet at 8am at the Font-Romeu resort. The morning begins with an introductory session with the guide and the rest of the group, including an explanation of the programme, equipment checks and a reminder of the basics of safety.

This first day is devoted to a gradual discovery of mountaineering on the heights of Cambre d'Aze. We'll be on an easy rocky ridge, ideal for learning the basics: roping up, using your hands to make progress, managing your balance on the rock.

On a clear day, you'll be able to see the Mediterranean Sea in the distance. The pace is adapted to the group, with regular breaks to learn and gain confidence. If necessary, the guide can suggest an easier route or shorten the outing so that everyone can move forward calmly.

At the end of the afternoon, we return to the valley and settle into a comfortable gîte or guest house. In the evening, we share a delicious home-cooked meal, prepared with care, in a convivial atmosphere.

Born in Perpignan in 1979 and raised between Cerdagne and Capcir, I caught the mountain bug early on: skiing, climbing and then ski touring. After a spell in engineering, I left it all behind and moved to Chamonix to become a mountain guide and ski instructor. Since 2009, I’ve been back in my Pyrenees, which I’m delighted to help you discover with passion, generosity and care for your safety.

Included

Guiding: You will be guided by a native UIAGM guide for 3 days.

Accommodation: You will spend two nights in a comfortable mountain gîte, in a shared room.

Meals: All meals are included, from the evening meal on day 1 to the picnic on day 3.

Mountaineering equipment: A harness and helmet are included and provided by your guide.

Not included

Transport to and from the meeting point.

Picnic lunch on Day 1.

To ensure optimum comfort, mountaineering boots are not supplied. We strongly recommend that you try them on before setting off.

What level to expect?

Level 2

Participants must be at least 18 years old

WHO IS IT FOR?

First-time rock climbing experience in the mountains. You're fit and comfortable with mountain hiking.

You're at the right level if:

You exercise at least twice a week
You can walk for 5 to 7 hours with an ascent of 600 to 900 metres
You're comfortable carrying a rucksack weighing 5 to 8 kg
You're comfortable on uneven terrain (rocks, snow)
You've never climbed in the mountains before (and that's fine, the guide takes you through it step by step)
Some sections are exposed, always secured by a rope and the guide
You can cope with high altitudes (up to 3,500 metres)

Want to avoid traffic jams and travel in peace? The train is your ally. You can reach Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via station via Toulouse or Catalonia:

Departure station > Toulouse Matabiau or Narbonne / Perpignan

Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg > Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via (TER or Yellow Train)

You arrive at Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via station, the meeting point for the expedition.

By car

Prefer the freedom of a road trip?

You can drive straight to the gîte and leave your car there for the duration of your stay.

Do consider carpooling: a WhatsApp group will be set up 10 days before departure so you can organise this with the other participants.

Departure is confirmed 15 days in advance for adventures lasting more than 4 days. Departure is confirmed 7 days prior for adventures lasting less than 4 days.

When is the best season for climbing in the Pyrenees?

The best period for this course runs from June to October, when the rock is dry and conditions are ideal for multi-pitch and ridge climbing. This course lets you discover mountain rock climbing in a progressive, hands-on way, moving from easy rock to a full multi-pitch route in just three days. You'll learn to move as a roped party on a ridge, climb a multi-pitch route and manage your balance in the mountains, always guided by someone who adapts to your level. Between the Mediterranean view from the Cambre d'Aze, the wild atmosphere of the Dent d'Orlu and the panoramic views of the high-altitude lakes in Andorra, you'll experience a full immersion in the Pyrenees. It's an accessible experience that builds your confidence, develops your technical skills and gives you a real mountain adventure.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful break — some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
