We meet up at Staffal at 9am to meet the group and the guide. After an initial briefing, we take the cable car up to Gabiet to get up to speed quickly.
From the arrival of the cable car, we begin our approach walk. The path is accessible and gradual, allowing us to acclimatise gently while discovering the high altitude landscapes of the Mont Rose massif. It's about an hour and a half's walk to the Orestes Mountain hut, set in an open landscape facing the glaciers.
After a break at the Mountain hut, we set off on our first ascent: Punta Telcio (2833m). This summit is an excellent warm-up for the start of our trip, with a varied and accessible route.
If the conditions are favourable, we can enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of Lac Vert or Lac Bleu, two emblematic sites in the area offering beautiful views of the surrounding peaks.
Return to the Mountain hut in the late afternoon to settle in, share dinner and prepare for the rest of the itinerary with the guide.
After a night at the Mountain hut Orestes, we have breakfast before setting off for our second day at altitude.
We start with the ascent of Alta Luce, an accessible summit that allows us to continue acclimatising while offering an unobstructed view of the Monte Rosa glaciers. The route is gradual and provides a good introduction to the more challenging days ahead.
After the summit, we descend to join the path leading to the Mantova Mountain hut, perched at 3498m. The climb is more sustained, with around 1,000 metres of Ascent over the course of the day. The landscape gradually becomes more mineral as we gain altitude, heralding our entry into a world of high mountains.
Arriving at the Mountain hut at the end of the day, we settle in for dinner and a well-earned rest before continuing the expedition.
We wake up at first light to prepare for a departure around 4.30am. Equipped with our headlamps, we begin our ascent up the Glacier du Lys to the col of the same name, at an altitude of 4,200 metres. We reach the summit at sunrise, offering a breathtaking spectacle.
After a short break to admire the view and the first rays of sunshine, we resume our journey towards the Cabane Margherita, Europe's highest Mountain hut, perched at 4554 metres on the Gnifetti peak. We'll reach the hut at around 9 a.m. and take time to have some Meals in the Mountain hut.
We'll then start the descent along the same route as the outward journey. Depending on the level of fatigue, the preferences of the group and the weather conditions, we might consider adding an extra summit of over 4,000 metres.
Back at the Mountain hut at around 1pm, we'll have lunch before freeing up the afternoon. In the evening, as usual, our guide will give us a briefing for the following day.
After an early start and breakfast at first light, we begin our ascent from the Mountain hut at around 5.30am. Depending on the weather and mountain conditions, we'll have a choice of two peaks over 4,000 metres: Pointe Giordani or Pyramide Vincent.
Once we've reached one of these summits, we'll head back down towards Indren, where we'll share a final meal together. Afterwards, we'll take the ski lifts back to Staffal, where it will be time to say goodbye.
Important note: The distances, times and gradients given are for guidance only. They may vary according to the weather, the terrain and the pace of the group.

Hi, I'm Patrick, a mountain guide from the Piedmont region. I became a mountain guide in 2018 and since then I've never left the peaks! As a mountain rescue instructor, I love sharing my experience and knowledge. Whether in Monte Rosa, my native Piedmont or Valle d'Aosta, the Italian Alps are my playground and my home.

With 30 years' experience as a mountain guide, I'll be sharing my techniques with you, but above all, my pleasure in experiencing nature to the full. Together, we'll explore my vision of the mountains: fabulous landscapes, dreamy peaks, new cultures, and maybe... the summit of your dreams!
I look forward to seeing you, whether you're on skis, climbing shoes, crampons or simply hiking boots.

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.
You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.
Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.
They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.
If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
At Wildhartt, transparency is essential. The price of your expedition reflects a clear breakdown of costs:
Our priority: to offer you a quality experience, with complete clarity.
