DAY 1 / 3

Climbing
5h

We meet at 9am at le Fayet, an ideal beginner's site just a stone's throw from Chamonix, to get to know the mountain guide who will be accompanying you throughout the course: Olivier.

The day is devoted to a technical warm-up: rock climbing in mountaineering boots, learning the basics of progression and rope handling. Together we discover or review how to climb safely in easy and varied terrain: support, balance management, abseiling techniques, roping up, etc.

It's a gentle first day, allowing you to familiarise yourself with the equipment and the vertical environment in complete safety. Return late afternoon to our cosy gîte in Les Houches for a good dinner and a restful night's sleep.

DAY 2 / 3

Climbing
6h

Today, we're getting down to the serious stuff with a day's mountain progression school at the Les Mottets training area.

Guided by your guide, you'll learn how to climb a ridge safely, set up a belay, belay your second, manage a taut rope and observe the terrain to better anticipate movements. It's also an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the rhythm of this type of mountaineering, with climbing sections, ridge sections and precise support.

It's the ideal way to test your footing, build your confidence and learn how to communicate well as part of a team. At the end of the day, we return to our gîte for a good meal.

DAY 3 / 3

Climbing
6h

On the last day, it's time to put our skills to the test in the high mountains! A second guide joins us to provide extra guidance and safety.

We set off early from Chamonix to take the gondola up to the Aiguilles Rouges, a massif ideal for a first ridge run.

Depending on the conditions and the level of the group, we'll climb an alpine ridge suitable for beginners, such as the Index ridge, the Aiguille Crochue or the Pointe de la Glière. Guided by Olivier, you'll use a tight rope on an aerial but accessible route, with easy climbing, gendarmes to negotiate, panoramic ridges and abseils.

This is your first real adventure course, in a spectacular setting facing the Mont-Blanc massif. Return to Chamonix in the afternoon to round off the course in style.

The programme is given as a guide only. It may be modified by the guide depending on the weather, mountain conditions or the level of the group.

UIAGM Mountain guide

Coming from the flat country of Belgium and being a mountain guide sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but here I am, Olivier , 33 years old. Very enthusiastic about the idea of getting off the beaten track, it's with boundless enthusiasm that I'll be guiding you through the magical world of the high mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of the valleys. It's with the same enthusiasm that I'll be sharing the conviviality of the post-race moments over a good beer... Belgian!

Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).

In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
→ You can postpone your adventure at no cost,
→ Or receive a full refund.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or mountain expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.

Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.

They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.

If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.
