Our selection brings together Wildhartt's New Year's trips, from a snowshoe weekend in a mountain hut to the most committed winter trek, across the Hautes-Alpes, the Cerces massif and Swedish Lapland. For a first New Year's Eve in the mountains, the 3 to 4 day trips in the Hautes-Alpes or the Clarée valley are ideal: accessible snowshoeing, nights in a cosy Mountain hut and a festive surprise for the countdown to midnight, at an altitude of 2,000 to 2,100 metres.
For more experienced hikers, head to the Cerces massif for a 4 day snowshoe and pulka trek, with nights in a tent above 2,000 metres and peaks up to 2,700 metres, or spend a night in an igloo facing the Meije after a day of snowshoeing in the French "little Dolomites". These formats call for more self-sufficiency and solid winter endurance.
Looking for a real change of scenery? The multi-activity trip in Swedish Lapland combines dog sledding, snowshoeing, Altai skiing and the Northern Lights, staying with professional mushers for a week. All our New Year's trips run in small groups with a passionate guide, unusual accommodation and shared meals included, from 31 December to 1 January.
