Ski touring
We meet at 9am in Les Contamines to take care of the final logistical details: ski touring and safety equipment hire. Once we're kitted out, it's off to a leisurely start with a hike up to Mont Truc, a summit offering a fine view of the village and surrounding mountains.
This gently-paced first day is ideal for getting to grips with the equipment, from skis to safety gear (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe).
Once you've reached the summit, it's time for your first descent on skis, under the guidance of your guide, to enjoy the pleasures of skiing in untracked snow.
At the end of the afternoon, return to the village for a convivial evening in a cosy gîte.
After a hearty breakfast, we set off from Notre-Dame de la Gorge to begin our ascent to the Refuge des prés, where we will spend the night. Once settled in, we take advantage of the beautiful snowy slopes around the refuge to explore and ski according to the mood and energy of the group.
This accessible terrain is perfect for building confidence and perfecting your first ski touring descents.
Enjoy a convivial evening meal at the refuge des prés.
After breakfast at the refuge, we set off early for a gradual climb to the Col de la Cicle (2467m). Once at the summit, we cross over to the Col de la Gittaz (2359m), where the view promises to remain etched in your memory.
The day ends in style with a long, pleasant descent to Val Joly, where we spend our last night.
A restful evening in a friendly gîte.
On this final day, we head for the Col de la Fenêtre (2245m). Once at the top, we savour the moment and prepare for a final curvy descent to the Notre-Dame de la Gorge car park.
Back to Les Contamines, where we finish off this winter raid with a well-deserved hot chocolate or beer.
Coming from the flat country of Belgium and being a mountain guide sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but here I am, Olivier , 33 years old. Very enthusiastic about the idea of getting off the beaten track, it's with boundless enthusiasm that I'll be guiding you through the magical world of the high mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of the valleys. It's with the same enthusiasm that I'll be sharing the conviviality of the post-race moments over a good beer... Belgian!
