What you will experience

Put on your skins and complete your first guided descent on the steep slopes of the Beaufortain.
Reach the summit of Grand Mont or Roche Parstire, take off your skins and set off on a rewarding off-piste descent.
Use of an avalanche transceiver, terrain analysis and route selection in a real-life situation during a guided ascent.
Share the debrief and the strategic planning for the following day with your guide in a welcoming Savoyard village.

    We’ll meet up in Arêches-Beaufort at 9 am for an introductory session on ski touring: we’ll start by fitting the equipment and going over the safety basics. We’ll then practise putting on and taking off the skins, managing our effort on the ascent and linking turns before setting off on our first climb, tailored to the group’s level.

    Accompanied by the guide, we put these skills into practice and then enjoy some off-piste descents to get used to the snow and our footwork. At the same time, we cover the basics of winter safety: reading the terrain, using an avalanche transceiver and how to adjust the route according to conditions. The day ends with a debrief with the guide and preparations for the next day’s hike.


    In the evening, we’ll share a convivial meal before enjoying a restful night at the hostel, ready to embark on the second day of this adventure.

What's included in the price

Included

Guiding: You will be guided throughout these two days by an experienced high-mountain guide.
Accommodation: You’ll spend one night in a dormitory at a hostel in the heart of the village of Beaufort.
Full-board accommodation: All meals are included, except for the picnic on the first day.

Not included

Your ski touring kit: (ski touring skis, boots, skins, crampons, ski poles, safety equipment: avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe (available at the next stage of your booking))
Transport to and from the meeting point
Anything not listed under ‘What’s included’.

What level should you expect

You should be at least 18 years old to participate

Who is this for?

You’ve never tried ski touring before, but you’re a good skier on the slopes.

You’re at the right level if:

  • You’re comfortable on black runs, even in variable conditions (hard snow, moguls)
  • You exercise regularly (at least 1–2 times a week)
  • You can ski for 5 to 6 hours a day
  • You can climb up to 800 metres of ascent
  • You’re comfortable carrying a light daypack
  • You’ve never been ski touring before (and that’s fine)

  • Paris Gare de Lyon > Albertville station

From Albertville station, you’ll need to take a direct connecting bus to Arêches-Beaufort, our meeting point.

You can drive to Arêches-Beaufort and leave your car in a free car park.

Departure is confirmed 15 days in advance for adventures lasting more than 4 days. Departure is confirmed 7 days prior for adventures lasting less than 4 days.

Do you need previous experience of ski touring?

No, this programme is suitable even if you have no specific experience of ski touring, provided you are a confident off-piste skier and feel at ease in all snow conditions. The ascents are designed to be manageable: between 500 and 800 metres of ascent per day. This approach makes the trip suitable for skiers wishing to discover ski touring without needing to be in top athletic condition, whilst guaranteeing a wonderful mountain adventure!

How is guiding organised throughout the stay?

The expedition is guided by an experienced high-mountain guide (UIAGM) who knows the region well and is trained in risk management in alpine environments.

Where shall we stay?

You’ll be staying in a dormitory at a comfortable youth hostel in the village of Beaufort in Savoie.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.


Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.


They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.


If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).


In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
