What you will experience

It takes place over three days in the heart of the Cerces massif, between the Clarée and the Guisane, in a wild and unspoilt setting.
Learn the basics of splitboard touring with a guide, then gradually put them into practice on a variety of routes.
Spend two nights at high altitude, first at the Laval mountain hut and then at the Clôt des Vaches mountain hut, perched at 2,550 m at the foot of the Bruyère ridges.
Depending on the conditions and the group’s ability, the guide chooses the best route from among several passes and peaks in the Cerces massif.

    We’ll meet at 8.30 am at Briançon station to meet the group and the guide. After an initial briefing covering the itinerary, equipment and the specifics of splitboarding, a taxi will take us to Névache, the starting point for our tour of the Clarée Valley.


    Once there, we’ll strap on our splitboards for our first outing in the mountains. This day will give us the chance to get to grips with the equipment and learn the basics of splitboarding, whilst gradually exploring the Cerces massif.


    Depending on the timetable, conditions and the group’s pace, we’ll continue our route to the Mountain hut, where we’ll spend the night.

Hello, I’m Laurent. The mountains have always been a part of my life. Climbing abroad, travelling, exploring: it’s through the vertical world that I’ve developed my passion. Over time, this passion has broadened to include mountaineering, skiing and ice climbing, eventually leading me to train for my high-mountain guide qualification. Today, as a trainee guide, I can support you in achieving your goals in the mountains, whether on rock or snow. My driving force remains the same: sharing, enjoyment and progress. I put all my energy and experience into guiding you safely and experiencing real adventures together.

What's included in the price

Included

Guiding by an experienced high-mountain guide (UIAGM).
Accommodation: You’ll spend two nights in a mountain hut (mixed-sex dormitories) with a friendly atmosphere.
Meals: All meals are included, from the first evening meal to the picnic on the final day.
The taxi journey from Briançon to Névache on day 1 and the return taxi journey from Pont de l'Alpe to Briançon on the last day.

Not included

Return transport to and from our meeting point.
Hire of technical equipment: splitboards, climbing skins, poles, crampons, boots and avalanche transceiver kits.
The picnic on the first day.

What level should you expect

You should be at least 18 years old to participate

WHO IS IT FOR?

You’ve never tried splitboarding before, but you’re already a good snowboarder on the slopes.


You’re at the right level if:

  • You’re comfortable on black runs, even in variable conditions (hard snow, moguls)
  • You’ve already had some off-piste snowboarding experience
  • You exercise regularly (at least twice a week)
  • You can climb up to 500m of ascent
  • You’re comfortable carrying a light rucksack (max 8kg) for a day’s skiing
  • You’ve never tried splitboarding before (and that’s fine)

Departure is confirmed 15 days in advance for adventures lasting more than 4 days. Departure is confirmed 7 days prior for adventures lasting less than 4 days.

How comfortable are the mountain huts?

You'll spend two nights in a mountain hut, in mixed-sex dormitories (single beds). Blankets and pillows will be provided; for hygiene reasons, you'll just need to bring a sleeping bag liner.

Will there be showers on site?

Yes, there will be showers in the two mountain huts where you'll be staying.

I've never tried splitboarding, is this trip really for me?

Yes, as long as you're already a confident snowboarder comfortable off-piste and on black runs: this trip teaches you the specifics of splitboarding (skinning uphill, kick turns, transitions), not the basics of snowboarding itself.

What happens if snow conditions or weather prevent crossing the Col du Chardonnet?

To confirm with the guide: depending on conditions, the route on day two can be adapted with an alternative itinerary within the Cerces massif.

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, that's right! At checkout, you can choose the Alma option to pay for your booking in 2x, 3x or 4x. All you have to do is select Alma at checkout and follow the instructions. It's simple, fast and secure.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

What kind of people usually join Wildhartt expeditions ?

You don’t need to be a top athlete or adventure expert to feel at home. Most Wildhartt participants are between 25 and 60 years old, with a balanced mix of women and men.


Many join solo or in small groups of two or three. They often live in cities and are looking for a meaningful brea some time to reconnect with nature, slow down, and enjoy something real.


They usually have a regular movement practice (hiking, running, yoga...), but not with a competitive mindset. They’re in good shape, but don’t necessarily have technical skills. What brings them together is a shared desire to disconnect, observe, learn, and experience nature in a more grounded, accessible way.


If that speaks to you, you'll feel right at home. The group spirit is kind and open, and the pace adapts to everyone.

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, rain or shine. Rain, snow or wind: our guides adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to guarantee you the best possible experience.
Unless safety is at stake (storm, avalanche, flood...).


In this exceptional case, we can cancel an expedition, at least one week before departure.
If this happens:
