An evening listening to the bellowing of the stag
Towards the end of September and for a very specific period of time, the stag starts to bellow. But what exactly does it mean to spend an evening listening to the stag bellow?
The stag's bellow is the call that the stag makes to draw attention to itself during the mating season. It's also known as the rutting season, and that's why it's so important to respect the deer's intimacy and not to rush them during this mating season.
The bellowing technique is used by stags to impress females and to differentiate themselves from the other males present. And it works ;)
Different types of bellowing:
There are different types of bellowing:
- Presence bellow: a short sound to signal your presence
- Triumphant bellow: powerful sound to signal success
- Challenge bellow: provocative sound to impress competitors
- Pursuit bellow: call of a stag when pursuing a female.
