In April the mountains and the far North show two faces. Our adventure trips in April bring together the last snow and the lift of spring: ski touring, snowshoe outings and dog sledding in Swedish Lapland, along with big hikes and wildlife encounters across the French ranges.
On snow, aim for a first 4000 on Gran Paradiso, link Chamonix to Zermatt on the Haute Route, or tag the Mont Thabor on a three day raid. Learn step by step around Mont Blanc and at the Grand Saint Bernard, spend a night in an igloo with views of the Meije, or go splitboard touring around Argentière and the Albert Premier hut. Further north, pick April traverses in Norway’s Lyngen Alps, either by sailboat or from a cosy chalet, when conditions are at their best.
If you prefer dry trails, go mountain running in Chamonix, the Vercors, on Mont Ventoux or up the Grand Colombier. Hike the Vosges ridge, roam the Auvergne volcanoes, explore Luxembourg’s Mullerthal and the cliffs and lochs of the Isle of Skye. On calmer water, pair mountain bike and packraft on the Lesse, learn to sail in Zeeland, or paddle a quiet Belgian river in search of beavers. To slow down, track wolves in the Vercors or the Ecrins, or treat yourself to a yoga retreat in the Ardennes. Our adventure trips in April run from 1 to 8 days and are guided by local pros for every level.
